I GIVE ORIGINAL poster a fist bump, high five and a 10/10! Way to think logically.

No matter what IGN`s agenda is, they`re still not going to stop people from liking Nintendo games. I also find it funny that the people who care most about things like "Princess isn't in the game!!!!" are non-Nintendo owners and IGN.... Obviously not many others thought this important, because the game sold faster than any in history, proving IGN wrong.

The fact of the matter is that the people bashing on the Wii are fanboys who are upset that they lost to Nintendo this generation. Most gamers this generation are DS/Wii gamers. Fact of the matter is, Nintendo games are a lot of fun, and a lot of people like them.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

wrong, i am not mad about that...i too own a WII but am only filled with regret...the WII left out the hardcore gamers....i have only had the delight of playing 5 good WII games this whole gen...very little WII games are AAA, i am not upset the WII gets sales...i am upset that they like to play it safe and not give us something truly GREAT like galaxy 2...instead NSMB sells like crack...and thats not even close as to what galaxy 2 did....the fact of the matter is that nintendo is becoming lazy, proving IGN right

Im not going to tell you your wrong. Because your not, well not really.

The problem with you, IGN and people like you is that you like ot think of your opinions as fact. They are not facts. You have only played 5 great Wii games this gen huh? Very little Wii games are AAA? I find fault in this personally and so do a lot of other fans of the Wii. You say that Galaxy is way better than NSBWii? I enjoy Galaxy more, at least when im alone, too but that dosent change the fact that most people love NSMBWii way more than Galaxy. And please dont insult me by giving me the old metacritic crap either. The people reviewing these games are like you and the fanboys at IGN ( not calling you a fanboy because i can tell your not ). Even the ones that arent fanboys just cant understand the merits of games like NSMBWii and games like them, ie taking points off for no story line or online multiplayer. So Metacritic is flawed at best and biased at worst.

NSBWii is my personal GOTY for 09. Wrap your head around that...=0)

I do think you have great points about Nintendo playing it safe. Hey whats new? This has been Nintendo since they started. But i think its very insulting to call them lazy and its misinformed.

i could personally care less what your goty for 09 is.....and i am not insulting you with metacritic, but nintendo has made all this money, can they not come out with more AAA exclusives, i am sure they can, can they not come with a stronger online, i am sure they can....they prove the fanboys at IGN right with games like NSMB and , the point is that taking points off for having no online is the right thing to do, because they could easily add it....i mean look at sony and microsoft, when sony was making tons of money on ps2 they gave the public tons of AAA, AA, A ps2 games, even the 360, microsoft gave its gamers the best online anyone could ever dream of...now what has nintendo brought us, more mario without an online component, or even more characters....idk about you, but metacritic and IGN gives credit where its due, and its not due in the full nintendo games library.

No matter what you say about the editors at IGN, I think they are right. As much as I hate to say it but they are right. Nintendo, being a legendary developer is now playing it safe. Lately, they have done nothing in order to prove that they care for the audience.

Though with early Wii games such as SMG, MP3, SSBB, MKWii they have put in considerable amount of effort to make an amazing game. But the time that Wii Fit came and sold gazillion copies, they just started to focus away from quality and towards what casuals(people who buy games every ~6 months as opposed to hardcore gamers who buy games every month) want.

Online support is ignored from games like Punch-Out!! and NSMBWii and Wii Fit Plus and Wii Sports Resort. If Conduit, MWR and WaW can handle 12, 10 and 8 people online on huge maps, these games can definitely support up to 4 people. They have done nothing about the Friend-Code system at all. Though some of you may say that FCs are not bad, you know that not having them would be better and more faster. Voice Chat support in online games is a standard since 2007 yet Nintendo INTRODUCED their voice chat accessory at the end of 2008 with no encouragement for the 3rd party to use it (First third party dev to use it was Conduit). If you look at Microsoft, they are going all out for 3rd party support for Natal and they are receiving it. If Nintendo could do that for Wii Speak, Wii's online community would be much different. They should be setting the bar by including it in their games so devs could look at that and include it in their games.

They believe that they have Call of Duty and Final Fantasy on their console, but they do not realize that one is a 2-year old port releasing on the same day as its hyped sequel. They do not realize that Wii gets a spinoff of a spinoff of a major franchise with Crystal Bearers and Wii does not get the main Final Fantasy which BOTH of the other consoles do.

With other developers cancelling support of the Wii, Nintendo have done NOTHING to respond to these comments. They should at least come out and say something like "Wii owners do not want On-rails shooters but quality games that are popular in today's market".

Nintendo tell the public that Wii owners want gameplay over graphics, but like Eric Nofsinger of HVS said "We want gameplay but we also want good graphics." I do want amazing gameplay, but i also want good graphics to COMPLEMENT that awesome gameplay. It makes the whole gaming experience complete.

Look at Sony. They are trying so hard. Every single game they are releasing ( or most) are really good. Uncharted 2 is the GOTY 2009. KZ2 had supposedly the best console graphics when it released. GT5 is boasting to be the most realistic driving simulator and with those screens I agree. Uncharted 2 even had an online multiplayer, vs. and Co-op. Sony is releasing MAG, a 256-player online shooter. WOW. I do not want Nintendo to do all these things, but I want you guys to realize how original and quality-oriented Sony is trying to be right now with games like these.

lol if they're so amazing why don't you just buy a PS3 then?

Lol...problem solved!

This.

Yeah people are right gameplay > graphics; but nothing has stopped games like Gears of War, Uncharted or Killzone 2 from having BOTH great gameplay and awesome graphics.

And I agree with the majority of things said in the OP. Wii owners should take a stand and demand more great games and improvements to their console instead of sitting back and defending Nintendo. Nintendo is quite content sitting back and counting their money. Its good to see the Wii getting good games like SMG2 and a new Zelda though.

Your entire argument is predicated on a faulty assumption though. You assume the people defending Nintendo have a desire for the features, and qualities of the competing console. This is ridiculous for one huge reason. They, intentionally, did not buy the competitions product. Implicitly they have rejected those features, and values in favor of Nintendo's way. It is simply a matter of preference that many internet gamers have a hard time wrapping their heads around. This is to be expected since it is an entirely different perspective with completely foreign values, and desires.

Sorry you are wrong.  I am the biggest Nintendo fan there is but as big a fan as I am I have been really pissed off the way some on this site have defended and excuse every move Nintendo has made.  It is not about them not caring about certain features it is about them just accepting anything Nintendo does.  Mario Kart is probably the best online experience this gen (at least certainly on the Wii) which is a big part of its ridiculously high sales but the way I have heard lack of online and other features so excused I am sure if Mario Kart did not have online people would be shouting about how it is and has always been a game for local multiplayer and it doesn't need online.
