Unlike the general consensus among 'hardcore' gamers, I have both a Wii and a PS3.

I play my Wii considerably more than my PS3 and prefer it and in many ways it is more 'hardcore', so I am voting Wii.

The correct answer is "all of them".
It just depends on the eye of the beholder.
We hardly ever learn that.

ps3 because in case you haven't noticed natal is supporting the whole new way of playing games, yup that is right chicken dancing, just look at my sig for evidence of how casual ms is going, and ninty is already casual so the harm is done now.

That console with God of Battle (sup?), Demon's Somthing, Murderzone (I believe)Unexplored Between Treasure Stealers and Valkyrie Tales. I don't know if those are exclusives though.

Whichever one has Killzone 2, Gears of War, Uncharted and CoD games...

how can the pc NOT be the the most hardcore gaming platform?

tweaking settings, trying or writing new mods, dedicated players who play 15 year old games like a religion and don't give a damn about how they look. on the other hand THE platform for graphic whores who upgrade their hardware every 6 months to get the highest benchmark scores or to show off crysis in 1600x1200 etc.

all the complex games like RTS are on the PC, if there are console versions they have reduced complexity (civ rev, halo wars). even the shooters are dumbed down pc shooters with self regeneration health, autoaim, etc.

there is nothing hardcore about consoles IMO. consoles provide the easy, mostly dumbed down fun. thats OK of course, but how in the world is that hardcore? consoles are cheap (in comparison) and you don't need ANY technical knowledge. of course thats also a good thing, but NOTHING hardcore about it.

most blockbusters are on the consoles. but then again: they are not hardcore games. great fun for the masses, thats why consoles are successful, not because they are "hardcore" (damn, do it hate the word. why can't gamers just be just gamers anyway??? )

Gamers who think PS3 or Xbox360 are "hardcore" probably have never played a "hardcore" game like hearts of iron. in fact, that is a perfect example for a hardcore game. it doesn't have a lot of mass appeal because it's too complex and doesn't look good. still it has some very loyal fans who like the inaccessibility and complexity. if anything, THOSE are hardcore gamers.

Owning all of them is the real answer lol but PC supports games dating way back to today, plus there isn't many niches more "core" and take pride in that fact than PC gamers, they really were the originators, they're the first to get mad that console kiddies were calling themselves gamers, and so on.  PC wins.

But if I chose by game time and what got me out of my gaming slump last gen then it'd be Wii.  Brawl has the highest play time out of any game I've ever owned.  A wide range of really good games.  Many unique games and game experiences you just can't get other places.  Plus when friends come over it's to play the Wii lol there just isn't that many local games on PS3 or 360

If you want to go by the stereotypical definition people try to use lately it'd likely be the PS3.  The games are tailored to the niche, it's all about the "hardcore" games, and there are many of them from multiplats to exclusives.  The console has a lot of extra features that most people don't need or want, so that appeals to the "core" for whatever reason lol.  And there is a big online focus and with PS3 its the most advanced as still free system (if we don't count PC's online experience)
