Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Third Party Devs have made up their minds about the Wii.

Well, I've made a post yesterday about the amount of games each of the biggest third party devs have coming up for the Wii vs the HD consoles, and trust me, it's so sad I have to make a thread about this. People were saying that 2010 was the year when 3rd party games were going to start blooming on the Wii, but considering the recent uproar from half of the biggest 3rd party devs blaming the Wii for all their losses and how Wii only caters to the casuals, and taking a look at what's coming up, I have to say 2010 looks like the last year where the Wii will get any decent support from these devs.

Up next, a list of what these devs are doing for each console:

Capcom is releasing Tatsunoko vs. Capcom in about 2 weeks, after that it is only bringing Sengoku Basara 3 in the future for the Wii, but they are giving the PS3 the superior version of the game with online play and HD graphics. Nothing else from them.
For the HD's they have Dark Void, Lost Planet 2, Dead Rising 2, Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition and Super Street Fighter 4.

Konami has put Silent Hill: SM for the Wii recently, but what else do they have coming up? More dance dance revolution? Late entries of their Pro Evolution series? Arcade ports? Walk it out?
Meanwhile they are giving the HD consoles Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Metal Gear Solid Rising, Pro Evoution (on time).

Namco Bandai, well, they have nothing coming up for the Wii.
For the HD's they have Dead to Rights: Retribution, Enslaved, Splatterhouse, Clash of the Titans.

Square Enix, well they have DQX coming up for the Wii but besides that they have NOTHING and have announced nothing since 2008, yes it is their biggest game, but they have absolutely nothing else for the Wii, which is strange considering they are giving it their biggest game.
For the HD's they have FFvsXIII, FFXIV, Nier Replicant, Nier Gestalt, Star Ocean 4 International, Front Mission Evolved, Supreme Commander 2, Just Cause 2, Kane & Lynch 2, Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, Deus Ex 3, Highlander, Arkaham Asylum 2.

EA has NBA Jam coming out for the Wii as an exclusive, but what else? The yearly iterations of their sports games, which are all inferior save for TigerWoods PGA Tour (which they might ditch thanks to his problems).
Meanwhile they will give the HD consoles American McGee Alice II, Dead Space 2, Dante's Inferno, Dragon Age Origins: Awakening, Mass Effect 2, LMNO, Medal of Honour Modern Combat (or whatever), Rage, Skate 3, Battlefield Bad Company 2, Crysis 2, EA Sports MMA, and many Sports games exclusive to the HD's.

Sega has Super Monkey Ball: Step & Roll coming up for the Wii, and what else? Sonic All star Racing (on the HD's too). Nothing else.
For the HD's they are brining Alien vs. Predator, Alien: Colonial Marines, Alpha Protocol, Resonance of Fate, Project Needlemouse and Armored Core 5.

Activision, besides their multiplatform music and peripheral games like DJ Hero or Tony Hawk's Ride, the only notable game they have coming up for the Wii is CoD 7, which will be inferior to their HD counterparts, like all of the previous CoD have been.
For the HD's on the other hand they have Blur, Gun 2, Singularity, True Crime.

Ubisoft has Red Steel 2 and NMH2 coming up, but after these, what else have they got? Their recent statements make it clear that not much, if anything notable will come out from their studios for the Wii. More Raving Rabbids milking? Just Dance 2? A movie tie in Prince of Persia game? The HD's will have Splinter Cell, Beyond Good & Evil 2, I Am Alive, R.U.S.E., Ghost Recon Predator, Assassin's Creed 3.

This is so sad, Wii barely has any games coming up, plus in the last year there were barely any announcements made for it. Third parties have already decided Wii is not the way to go.

Even in the light of the recent events, where Wii shattered the US records for a single month and where NSMBWii became the fastest selling game ever, on top of reaching 10 million units, analysts, 3rd party devs and retailers keep on saying Wii is on the verge of dying and blame it for all their problems. They got this on themselves, Nintendo in the meanwhile will keep on raking cash while these companies will keep on being in the red for many years to come. Personally I wish these companies the worst, only because they don't admit their faults, but blame others.

Nintendo doesn't need these third-parties.

These third-parties need Nintendo.

Namco Bandai has Tales of Graces coming

No, the game is already released. Finished. I didn't include Tales of Vesperia for the PS3 for the same reason.

Third parties should know their place. I wish the pre-Playstation days were back.

EDIT: If OP's conclusion is correct of course.

We still have E3 to either confirm, or dismiss how third parties are going to treat the Wii.

I LOVE ICELAND!

ah...I see, but you dont know though, there could be some unannounced stuff coming this year.. I think its alittle too early to jump to conclusions like this

Well this isn't surprising considering they've done it all generation haha. But a few laughable things such as Aliens: Colonial Marines and I Am Alive. Yea the apocalypse will happen before these 2 release haha. Any game that has a release date for after 2010 announced NOW, yea we can just forget about for a few years haha. Especially Aliens: Colonial Marines but I am Alive has a shot in about 2012 maybe.

but this is why I have a 360 so that at least I can play these games, some which are good some which are disappointing. But none them are as exciting as say the Nintendo games I'll get on the Wii so no biggie.

Capcom has Monster Hunter 3 coming.

Otherwise it's more of the same that's been the case with Wii since the beginning. None of these developers have put much in the way of quality titles on Wii (unless you count EA Sports) on any given year.

Third parties need something, that's for sure... the ones which aren't losing money, are making less profits than they used to.

In this generation, Nintendo offered third parties a big userbase on a console with lower development costs. A platform which has sold quality 3rd party games well enough, taking into account the genres of those games (how much do you think Zack & Wiki or Madworld would have sold on any console?).

Apparently it was not enough for third parties. They want something a bit easier, or with better graphical capabilities. This is a fact, not speculation on my part. There are developers like Infinity Ward who have said graphics are the reason why they don't make Wii games.

I know some people will say I'm giving "excuses" for the "bad" sales of some Wii software. Let me ask you this... aren't developers also using excuses to justify why their Wii games don't sell as much as other 3rd party Wii games have sold? And what's worse, me using excuses (if that's what I'm doing, which I don't agree with), or developers using excuses? Who's running a business?

Im not jumping to conclusions, just look at the amount of games each of the companies have coming up for the HDs and then tell me how many they have coming up for the Wii, or how many they announced last year for the Wii. I think Nintendo should start releasing as many games as possible, these companies will not support the Wii anymore with good efforts, or abarely at all.
