haha, now thats true on many levels, the age old war of the VI and VII fans rage on today.

wonder if that'll happen to XIII and Versus XIII? heh, if it does, i know which side of the fence i'll be on.

Actually, I have been telling this to Darth for a long time, I will make a thread the moment FFXIII releases and I see some people, who were dissing the game, playing it, you can bet on this xD

It can probably reach those levels, due to it meets some criteria that the FF VI / FF VII split, most notabily the exchange of exclusivity and different fan expectations.

I know where I will side, right in the middle, loving both games, as I loved all FF games :)

Demon's Souls @ 7. Pretty good. Uncharted 2 in the top 20, excellent result for a Western game that hasn't sold all that well, it's the top (only) western game in the list isn't it?

Good for FFXIII hopefully that shuts a few haters up.

Not also are they all top quality, they are amongst the best examples in their own genre, they have been the banner holder and have shown how their own genre can evolve through more than 2 decades of gaming ;)

The funny thing though, is that from those series, only FF gets the most hate from it's own fans, go to any Zelda, Mario or DQ thread and you'll see their own fans praising and waiting for the best in all new games of the series. Go to a FF thread, and you'll see the vocal minority of the internet waiting for each new FF to fail massively :P

mainly cus they are ALL DIFFERENT!

I mean lets see, which zelda got a lot of hate at launch & a lot of flak, oh thats right Wind Waker, it was different from previous zelda's thats why! (then after a while they all agreed it was AWESOME like 99% of FF fans do too in the end)

except this wind waker scenario happens with EVERY FF, with some on a big scale (i.e. FF8/12), to some on a smaller scale (FF7 -- yes I am sure some people hated it at the time)

Thankfully the majority see the light! Thats how it will stay!

Yeah, and ironically, the same people who disliked Wind Waker's Cell Shaded graphics, are now loving Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks :P 

@bolded - Actually FFVII got and still gets a lot of hate, especially to the purist FFVI lovers, to whom FF ended the day FF7 released. FF7 caused the biggest split in FF fans in the history of the series, a split that still exists today, even if the "purists" are fewer these days ;)

lol yeah, thats a the BIGGEST rivalry in all of FF

despite FFX being the most popular one after FF7

in terms of quality its always FF7 vs FF6!

personally I like FF6 more, but FF6 is a 9.8 -- FF7 9.6.....so very close for me!

Probably you're right, but there have been so many negative threads about FFXIII lately, this puts things into a very different perspective ;)

To me, FFVI was the best FF game released so far, if you compare the overall panorama, it did everything almost perfectly, even though some other FF games are sometimes better to it in different parameters. 

A shame that some FFVI fans just can't see past it, it's their loss actually ;)

same here I loved FF6 the most, it had the best of everything in an FF except for graphics (duhhh lol) & gameplay imho. Soundtrack, story, characters.

FFX had the best gameplay for me

Us FF have to stick together, hell, FF games get enough hate from fans from other genres, I think it doesn't need hate from FF fans themselves.  

 

Yes it is like FFX it got hat from many fans of other genres because of Tidus, FFX is the first FF Game I played back in 2001 and I loved it it made me love the FF Series I now own amd have played almost all the Japanese versions of FF including all the International versions and FFXIII and can not what for FFVersusXIII I love all Japanese RPGs but FF is one of the series I love the most.
