I dont know about everyone but Im really surprised that Touch Detective is still ahead of PSO2 y Senran Kagura when those two have been hyped as vita saviors and no one is hyping the other game

I don't think either game is being hyped as a Vita "savior. But, nice try.

The only Vita savior is a price cut in my opinion.

Price cuts are not "saviors". They only create a short term boost. It is games, features and services that make a device sell. Right now the Vita isn't competing on a game level, because Sony still doesn't understand the market. Plus...marketing sucks.

Price cut does a short term boost but make an increase in 3rd party support witch will boost psvita in long term

It depends on the size of the boost and if the first party studios have big exclusive games releasing around the time of the price cut. Looking at the 3DS, it still isn't getting the support that the DS got. It isn't even getting the support the PSP got. Yet, it is selling on an "okay" basis.

So no, price cut, not the factor. Bring the cost of memory cards down would help a little on the Vita side, especially for the current owners wanting to do more digital gaming.

Pretty nice day all around... except for Layton!

How is Layton 6(?) doing compared to the other Layton games?

When 3DS was announced Nintendo show a big big list of games and when 3DS didn't do well many of this games never got new info about them ssome of this games was canceled(Assasin creed and megaman) but just after the price cut 3DS got 2 Monster Hunter and Dragon quest and kingdom heart.

PS3 got some good games before the price cut and hasn't do anything  but after the price cut ps3 sale sold in a new level.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I think that Miracle Mask had around 100 points, but looking at older posts it's pretty hard to judge.

If I'm wrong, I would then gladly be corrected.

No. Kingdom Hearts was announced from first day at E3 2010, with Resident Evil, etc so you are wrong. MH3G development began before the price cut too, it's been prepared early, but the announcement happend only late summer 2011 or september (I don't rememner correctly).

"Looking at the 3DS, it still isn't getting the support that the DS got. It isn't even getting the support the PSP got."

You are wrong. For example, DS first year japanese listwas complete shit w/only few 3rd party games being great (Castlevania, Phoenix Wright port, Jump), and 3DS got Layton, DoA, MH, Resident Evil, KH, DQ etc during first year; PSP even shittier (those anime games is a joke, they can't help move hardware, w/ultra niche otaku fanbase), without Monster Hunter it was almost dead - no other games sold 1m for PSP lifetime except MH. Look for Famitsu yearly charts 2005-2007, first few years PSP was in COMA (befor MH and Crisis Core) - no big games, no big sales (but even with this, it sold faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar better than Vita in the same time frame.

But I agree that price cut without BIG games is nothing. 3DS began to rise when Mario and MH came, but even without price cut 3DS sales was bigger and better than absolutely terrible PSV level which is worser than DC. I don't remember any console from major manufacter with such a disaster sales in Japan when it's already SECOND YEAR.

Btw, 3DS price cut happend mid 2011, so now we are in feb. 2013 - even if Nintendo wasn't slash the price back there, in these 2 years price cut expected naturally, console selling for profit and it's amazing that no more cuts needed and Nintendo not gonna make them anytime soon. Can't wait for new Nintendo Direct!

Editor should know that it will be a price cut before people know so they have time too prepare some games and why we didn't hear after the announcement and before the price cut news about Monster Hunter and Kingdoms Heart maybe without the price cut this two game would be canned.

Price cut of ps3 came with Gundam witch is not a big big game psvita price cut could came weith Final Fantasy X or with God Eater or Soul Sacrifice.

If they was only Monster Hunter in PSP the handheld woulldn't sold that well  Monster Hunter is not the only contributor in the PSP succes Final Fantay,Kingdoms Heart,Hatsune Miko,AKB,God Eater,Persona all this game make PSP a succes not only Monster Hunter.

I'm a Japanese sales age aficionado and I find this thread very interesting, good job Boutros. It's a pity that Comgnet archive is no longer available.
