It's hard to explain really. It comes with experience as you mostly have to compare with other games. It also depends on the platform on which the game is. For example most Nintendo first-party games won't have a lot of points upon release but the ratio will pretty much always be more than 1 pt = 1k (it can often be 1 pt = 2k). Some games have better pre-order incentive and thus the amount of points will fluctuate. Also comg can sometimes be wrong so it's not to be taken fully for granted.

Let's say FFXIII-2 ends with 650-700 points, that would translate into a FW of like 450k-500k I'd say. But I'm thinking comg might be off on FFXIII-2 because SE is shipping 1 million copies.

And we know MH3 has a first shipment of 420,000 copies. Perhaps they will have an early second shipment but so far we can't really expect more than 420k copies FW.

I'm personally very impressed by how MH3 has done.

there was exactly one guy who said 2000 points, so while you may have won against him, I would use smaller letters

Just curious though (not that it means anything in the grand scheme of things)  - did yu expect even around 1300 points?

I know it's just *cough* ELGRANCABEZA *cough* but he was so mean to me that I want to use caps :D

I had no idea what to expect from MH3 but I'd say around 1000 points was my inital guess.
