There's not much of a definition of what one point it. The best thing to do is compare the pre-orders to something from a similar genre or to something from a similar console

So for GT5 I'd say comparing it to MGS4 pre-orders would be best, or possibly FFXIII pre-orders.

It's crazy how the franchise is not popular in Japan anymore.

For your information, there isn't any "collector's edition" for GT 5 in Japan, but their normal edition comes with a 200 pages book, like the european "collector's edition" ( at least at launch ). And the PS3 bundle comes with this book too. Lucky japense. ^^
