looking at birth by sleep sales and FF13 i will sale it will be kinda big deal. turn out a good game.

look like its made by one of the best FF teams. and KH team.

with the best composer square have along nobou, the game will be awesome

Lol. Tbh Squall was nowhere near as emo as the translation made it seem. They filled in too many "whatever" answers into his dialogue along with several other lines (Yes I understand some but nowhere near as much as a native). In the Japanese version Squall has a tough exterior but he is constantly questioning what's going on around him (gotta remember he's only an 18 yr old orphan thrust in a huge conflict). He also has enough level of maturity to know that "good" and "evil" are merely points of view and it's more of a matter of "us vs them". But anyways, I'll leave that discussion for another thread. 

I wouldn't go as far as saying Noctis would be like Cloud nor Squall for a few reasons. There is another trailer where he goes on a date with Stella and actually has a normal human interaction with her and even tells her that she can call him by his shorter nickname Noct. Also in the other trailers his friends can be seen joking around with him, showing a more normal everyday interaction that any of us would have with our friends. Just based on these alone, it gives the impression that he is a regular guy but gets straight to business when attacked. I believe that people's opinion of him being "emo" comes from him sitting in the car and on his throne locked in thought, or even his hair style. That is a very childish and poor assumption and people need to open their eyes a bit more to the sides in the trailers where he is actually seen interacting with people. I believe people fall into the misconception that his semi sasuke style hair and moments of quietness immediately point to "OMG HE's EMO." It's wayyy too much judging a book by its cover. People have to learn to look at what really matters when judging someone's personality and the best way to do so is viewing 2 sides: 1. interaction with close friends (seen on video), 2. interaction with someone that recently enters his life (Stella). Although even then, the assessment of his personality is somewhat vague and can be inaccurate, it is still much closer to reality as well as having more overall substance to judging by how he looks.

Even cloud had emotion :p

Really, I don't even mind the emo, though I will admit I haven't grown majorly attached to a FF character since Terra, but at least I didn't have a urge to kill Cloud or Aquall like I did Yuna (base solely on the horrible horrible voice actress) and perhaps Tidus (He reminds me of Pikachu seriously).

Also, I suspect that the emotion shown is foreshadowing Noctis's 'gameface' like a before / after image. As the game promise to be a sad one, and I can already envision main character death, I can easily imagine protagonist starting out as a bright young lad and ending up that bitter merciless killing machine.

Lol yea, Tidus did remind me a bit of a freakin pikachu. Noisy, annoying, urge to kill it. God I truly HATE anything pokemon. Anyways back on topic, yes it may sound messed up, but I do hope for lots of darkness in the game. A main character death wouldn't be bad but dunno, I am liking Noctis and Stella. Although if Stella ends up dying that will be nuts but awesome, in a guilty pleasure type of way. I would hope though for the game to have 2-3 endings, kinda like Valkyrie Profile in a way. I know it would be hard to expect a Chrono Trigger outta this (what? 12-14 endings was it?), but a good 2-3, like ending A: Noctis dies, B: Stella dies C: both live. I am sure if they make it roughly an average of 30 hour game times 3 endings equals average of 90 hours, that would be golden (not including those that spend more time for perfect game). Of course this is all wishful thinking but hey, you never know.

I believe it is safe to say that at the very LEAST, in game graphics will be up to par with FFXIII, but may end up slightly better since it's being built from the ground up as a PS3 exclusive (whether it stays that way has yet to be seen, but I am hoping so). My expectations are as follows: KH style gameplay with a good amount of exploration/sidequests, dark theme, good story even if it becomes a truly shakespeare style tragedy, multiple endings (wishful thinking). I don't think my expectations are unrealistic.

Or people who plan on buying XIII, without having seen thing, but don't even intend to try XIII. Why were all these people hiding when FFXIII was still a PS3 exclusive? Back in those days, I didn't hear a single person say Versus>XIII. Now, it's pretty much become the norm among PlayStation fans among the forums. It really bothers me as a PS fan myself to see such utter fanboyism.

Actually to be quite honest with you, when I saw both trailers at the same time for the first time, I was leaning towards FF VS XIII simply because of the darker direction it took. FF XIII felt kinda like X and XII mixed together to me at the time. No doubt it was beautiful looking, but it was more of a matter of personal taste. Noctis just jumped out at me. Like I wanted to know who the hell is this guy. It's kinda like the whole shrouded in mystery thing that caught my attention immediately. Yea I was bothered by FFXIII going to the 360 but w/e, I'm still buying it, but it's not on the very top of my list. My list consists of WKC, GOW3, Heavy Rain, The Last Rebellion, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Yakuza 3 and I miiiight import Ar Tonelico 3. FFXIII is somewhere in there but not before WKC, GOW3, TLR and Yakuza3. And yes my wallet is starting to hate 2010. Oh yea, I might pickup MAG but that would be below FFXIII hehe.

I have to partly disagree. After the shocking announcement of final fantasy XIII going to the xbox 360, many were disappointed that it wasn't exclusive for the playstation 3, because the xbox 360 would hold back the quality (which it did, despite what developers said about it). Final fantasy XIII would've been a lot better if it remained as an exclusive, but nope, it has to be deducted in order to run smoothly on the lesser console. The better the quality, the more you're drawn into the game. This is why many are anticipating final fantasy versus XIII more, fans expect just a lot (or more) from the game as they did with final fantasy XIII before it went to the xbox 360.

Seems like FFv13 will probably be the last biggest 3rd party exclusive this gen. (Unless it gets multiplat then the title goes back to MGS4 for being the last big 3rd party exclusive lol)

Hehe, you may be right, although please read one of my previous posts and check the link. This is not a spinoff. It is part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis compilation along with FFXIII, FFXIII Agito. I even posted the urban dictionary link. Again, Dirge of Cerberus was a spin-off, this is not.

Oh I agree its not a spin off (for reasons as how the game isnt really like FFXIII), but others would label it so if its not titled in the main FF series.

Ahh I see. Thank you for your reply, and in advance I do apologize if in any of my posts it may seem like I come off a bit as a douche (having cheap johnny red label and it's almost 8am where I am at lol). Anyways, for the others that would want to label it a spinoff I am leaving the link again

Perpride, when I saw versus running real time in the trailer that came with that Final Fantasy XIII demo you had, I knew from then it looked better; just look at Noctus walk, his clothes are so fluid moving :).  And when I saw XIII in action and they were using the low res battle models for cutscenes I felt VS was more refined.  How much XIII improved since the demo only you can answer that and it's probably a lot.  But I will say Lightning looked a decent amount better before development of the game switched to PC if VS can keep up that level of detail then I think we'll be in a treat.

Lol I just noticed at the end of the 2 min video Noctis just gives them that LOOK "did you seriously try killing me with a rocket launcher?.... leave before I change my mind" *sits back on throne for another nap time....rofl priceless.
