Forums - Sony Discussion - Final Fantasy VS XIII and the expectations that come with it.

I am perhaps late to the party when it comes to threads about FF VS XIII, nonetheless when I saw the trailers AGAIN, I couldn't help but be excited. I am sure many have perhaps impossible to satisfy expectations on this game, but after seeing the tiny trailers I mean how can you not??!?! Based on the people working on this title (KH , Advent Children, etc), I can only imagine a KH type battle system with lots of style (perhaps several QTE's that would make battles look somewhat like AC).

Please feel free to discuss and throw out expectations, opinions, etc.

Oh and yea, here are 2 videos I liked, although 1 is mirrored the music is what caught my attention the most since it is truly epic music for a trailer, while the second video I think just has "OMGWTF PWNAGE!!!" written all over it.

I dunno why, but ever since FFXIII and FF V XIII were announced. I always had a feeling that V XIII would be the better game of the two.

I like the look of versus more

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

I dunno what to expect from it

its a spin off which in general aren't that great FF wise (barring tactics & crisis core imo)

but it has a stellar team behind it

I think we should be THANKFUL we have this game coming too, I mean I'll love FFXIII, but then there is this action RPG to look forward to which can be of a top quality.

Thank you square & Final Fantasy

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I wouldn't go as far as calling it a spin-off as there is nothing from FF XIII to spin-off from. All FF XIII are part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis, including Agito. They are all unrelated except to the mention of the crystals I believe, therefore not being a spinoff. Dirge of Cerberus was a spinoff, this is not.

Figured I'd bring that into the discussion in case someone of the "hater" type decides to disregard the game as a spinoff anything of the sort which would carry some sort of stigma with it and being used to describe this game we know little about.
Based on the trailers and the team behind it I am optimistic but still keeping my hype in check. I don't think this will be the second coming but at the very least it can be enjoyable if done with some love :).

If Noctis turns out to be the average guy and not some emo "boo hoo, I want to be forgiven" type like *coughcloudCough, then I will be a happy camper.

He reminds me more of Squall, who was an emo of Sasuke's (great big fucken asshole) calibur rather than the wrist cutting variety.

Lol. Tbh Squall was nowhere near as emo as the translation made it seem. They filled in too many "whatever" answers into his dialogue along with several other lines (Yes I understand some but nowhere near as much as a native). In the Japanese version Squall has a tough exterior but he is constantly questioning what's going on around him (gotta remember he's only an 18 yr old orphan thrust in a huge conflict). He also has enough level of maturity to know that "good" and "evil" are merely points of view and it's more of a matter of "us vs them". But anyways, I'll leave that discussion for another thread.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Noctis would be like Cloud nor Squall for a few reasons. There is another trailer where he goes on a date with Stella and actually has a normal human interaction with her and even tells her that she can call him by his shorter nickname Noct. Also in the other trailers his friends can be seen joking around with him, showing a more normal everyday interaction that any of us would have with our friends. Just based on these alone, it gives the impression that he is a regular guy but gets straight to business when attacked. I believe that people's opinion of him being "emo" comes from him sitting in the car and on his throne locked in thought, or even his hair style. That is a very childish and poor assumption and people need to open their eyes a bit more to the sides in the trailers where he is actually seen interacting with people. I believe people fall into the misconception that his semi sasuke style hair and moments of quietness immediately point to "OMG HE's EMO." It's wayyy too much judging a book by its cover. People have to learn to look at what really matters when judging someone's personality and the best way to do so is viewing 2 sides: 1. interaction with close friends (seen on video), 2. interaction with someone that recently enters his life (Stella). Although even then, the assessment of his personality is somewhat vague and can be inaccurate, it is still much closer to reality as well as having more overall substance to judging by how he looks.

Versus = Kingdom Hearts - Disney - "Childish" things + Realistic and dark setting + FF7 team + You are playing a prince for a crime family.

Oh yeah baby, oh hell yeah!

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.
