Hawk if I had time to hold your hand walk you through everything Square has done to the PS3 user in regards to Final Fantasy XIII I would already.

I will however point this out. FFXIII in it's current form fills 3 dvd's. That's a little over 7gb's per disc. Not even enough to fill a single layer Blu-Ray Disc. Square cut over half the up and running content (people, places, things, etc.) from the PS3 version to make it equal with the doomed to be inferior 360 version.

What is so hard to understand?

Hehe, meaning you don't know and are getting irritated you can't answer it.  Still not sure why 3 DVD filling less than a Blu-ray means anything.  And still you are just saying the content was cut for the sake of the 360 with nothing to back up what you are saying.

I'm I the only one who feels robbed when I purchase a 60$ blu-ray disk game to find out my version was compressed and had files removed in order to keep it equal as its counterpart (FF13 and Tekken 6)? I find it like, I'm not only being robbed from my money but also my experience with the game. I think Sony needs to find a way to end this practice and we as consumers of Sony products need to make them aware about it. We are paying for a 25/50gb Blu-ray disk not a 8gb DVD disk which bewildereds me on why MS charges 60$ for their games? Because of  'console equality' there are a lot of consumers who are misinformed of the blu-ray capacity and the ps3's power and who's to blame? Yes, Sony for not stopping this practice but also those developers who are practicing it, we shouldn't support them. My brother and I decided we werent going to purchase ff13 and even if only a few hundred ps3 owners don't purchase it, oh well, at least scummy developers like square won't get our money and it'll go to a first party company. it's a shame cause I was a big fan of FF and I cannot force myself into buying this game.

I'm not trying to start a boycot but instead want to read the opionions of others about 'console equality' and whether or not Squareenix latest move change your decision of a purchase. For those who don't know Square removed content that was on the ps3 in order to keep it equal as its 360 counterpart. also there's a good chance they compressed both versions of the game even though they promised they wouldnt for the ps3.

also please refrain from my thread if you're going to be rude. you respect me and ill respect your thread.

This I'm afraid is the price you have to pay for backing one horse over the other, folks who go for both get the best of both worlds but if you opt to be ps3 only then you have to make do with getting the short hand or nothing at all.

Point of interest, Bayonetta

This game was never meant to come to the ps3 but Sega went out of their way to make it.
On the one hand you could argue Sega just wanted the munniez but on the other hand, a ps3 only owner doesn't have a chance to play it unless they are thrown bones.

But then there's the question of games like FF13 and Tekken 6

Why settle for busting your gut to make a game for a console that has the least amount of owners only to get small change when you can port to a higher install and getting high(er) returns? When you are catering for a higher audience on an easier machine, folks are more inclined to work harder to maximise their product but if it's on a harder machine with lesser audience number...the insentive really isn't there to bust a gut.

So by being a ps3 only owner, you are signing up to inferior ports and suspect hand me downs, begs the question, would you rather play a shoddy version of your 3rd party favourites on your ps3 or not at all?

Even if you're a PS3 fan, I still hate this statement, even coming from you because MGS4 completely shits over that logic, and that was almost 2 years BEFORE FFXIII comes out. The PS3 has like 20M more users now, so that makes that logic of "port so you don't have to worry about the least amount of owners" even more faulty. Didn't MGS4 (when the PS3 was at like....12M) raise Konami's profits for almost a year?

Seriously guys the hate in here is rather pathetic to say the least. Square obviously looked to Sony for help funding FFXIII and got nothing from them to help them make the best game they could. The only avenue left to fund the game at that point was for either Microsoft to have part funded the game or for them to have made the decision themselves that the extra revenue by going multiplatform would minimize the risk.

Stop being hypocritical with your criticism, Sony first and foremost are to blame for this supposed debacle that has happened, NOBODY else. I guess this point conveniently slipped your mind when you all saw the opportunity to jump on the hate 360 and SE wagon today.

O'RLY?

Could you provide some kind of backup for your claim?

They went multiplat simply because X360 stands strong in the console war,and considering FFXIII is such a big game (in name, quality and investment) SE just wanted more revenue.

OT:

I'm sure if it stayed exclusive it would have more content, and i dare to say it would be superior to some extent too (PS3 sound is crisper compared to the 360 version thanks to uncompressed sound...but i think visuals could have been improved aswell).
However, FFXIII is still a grade A game, and 360-only owners deserve to enjoy it too. (I hope Bioware does the same favor and brings Mass Effect to PS3  )

Nyway.

FFXIII: Versus  remains exclusive...if any sort of Blu-ray superiority was gonna happen, it should happen there.

Well regardless of how (un)hackable the ps3 is, the numbers don't lie, 360 in terms of sales is superior to the ps3 and ps3 fans are notorious for their varying taste in games whereas 360 fans are more predictable, if you cater to to the garunteed individuals, you're more likely to get more for your money especially when you consider the 360 is easier to build for.

Less work+ more returns= win.

Is the basic gist of it.

Playstation owners should also be notorious for buying the PS3 simply because FFXIII was exclusive to it, just like MGS4. We knew (or rather, thought) those games would only be able to be played on a PS3, and you know that's what constituted the bulk of the initial sales of the PS3. THAT'S a guaranteed audience.

The 360? Guaranteed audience for an JRPG? Do you want me to bring up the sales numbers?

You're joking right? Please tell me you, after hearing what I've said.....you honestly think I'm going to pay even more extra money for a game that already had it in it.

I've bought many games off of PSN that didn't sell well. Critter Crunch, Noby Noby Boy, Piyotoma, Everyday Shooter, Cuboid. So yes I buy PSN content.

It's like "unlocking" Versus mode in RE5, or the whole Vader and Yoda incident with SCIV. They want you to pay extra for what should have already been there.....

I AGREE,we got robbed

You'll have to forgive me if I don't respect you because you made an unrespectable thread.

Compression doesn't handicap a game. Every image on every website you have ever seen was compressed and if you have a single uncompressed bit of audio or video on your computer then you are either 1) an audio/visual professional who routinely works with uncompressed media, or 2) neurotic and undeserving of the attention you were clearly clamoring for with this post.

Did you know that in LSD case studies many people reported significant health problems after the experiments? One woman said LSD made her a quadriplegic. The thing is, those people weren't even given LSD. They were given placebos.

You are one of those people. You are seeing things that aren't there. Get a grip.

Your arguement was suspect to begin with, because you started with "PS3 is a better gaming system" something that has not been proven in any way whatsoever. But, if you really believe that, then I can see your problem with this. Your main problem however, is believing what you read on the interwebz and freaking out about it.

These "FF13 was compromised because of the 360" threads are hilarious! Lots of people getting trolled; it's great to see how seriously people take this stuff.
