Failure depends on the goals. I'll go by what I think are the major goals of some games:
Metroid: Other M. I think they want to expand the Metroid audience, and possibly make it sell in Japan. I think it will fail at this.
Gran Turismo. I think this game is being positioned as a momentum builder* for PS3. I think it will fail at this.
Driver. I think they want to sell like the original. It won't.
*I'm going to use the phrase "momentum builder" in place of "system seller" to avoid semantic arguments
