They have some serious money hole somewhere. I just cannot understand how they can lose so much money with those software sales.

Ironically, though in recent years they've produced more commercial disasters than ever, most of those actually received great critical reception.

Dead Space and Mirror's Edge sold like shit but got respectable mid 80s on Metacritic.



Which is kind of scary. Games cost an arm and a leg to produce while we consumers can't really be depended on to buy their multi-million dollar showcases regularly. Gamers are a fickle (heh, heh...fickle sounds dirty) bunch. Our likes and dislikes change faster than the development cycle of some games. But when a company like EA, one of the biggest in the world can't get it right, what's the future going to be?


(It's a rhetorical question. I already know the future. It involves boobs.)



Maybe they should push Battlefield a little better. Hasn't been a big PC version in years and bad company 1 wasnt' too hot.

I think bc2 will be far better and a better approach since it will include a quality PC version as well.

The Sports games need to relax a little. All the experimentation with gimped Wii versions have been stupid failures. Need to take Ps360 games and simply port. Not try to make a cartoony version with bad motion.

Tiger wood sold well because it was put together nicely and not gimped. Madded sucks balls and all they do is gimp it more each year.

It's not like movies, where ticket costs are still a fraction of the game costs, you don't need a game system to watch in the theaters, and even though you need a DVD player, they are numerous and affordable, in addition to DVDs costing as much as a bargain game.



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Pixel Art can be fun.

I kind of liked the new EA, and Riccitiello. They seemed to have realized they were heading towards an iceberg and were trying to turn the ship. Unfortunately it seems they blew it in execution. They did start releasing Wii games that could have been good, Need for Speed Nitro certainly had the right ideas, focussed on the right values and had potential. Of course they completely misunderstood the audience with Dead Space Extraction, but it looked like the executives wanted to take the Wii audience seriously even if the developers didn't.
