"Games cost an arm and a leg to produce while we consumers can't really be depended on to buy their multi-million dollar showcases regularly."
It's not like movies, where ticket costs are still a fraction of the game costs, you don't need a game system to watch in the theaters, and even though you need a DVD player, they are numerous and affordable, in addition to DVDs costing as much as a bargain game.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
