Forums - Sales Discussion - Darksiders outsells Bayonetta on both HD consoles (more than twice)

Whats happening is that bayonetta is too crazy over the top to be a hit in the west, people don't want that kind of games anymore, mostly the teens that buy this kind of game all they want is a badass male caracther that grunts laud and makes them feel manly.

Bayonetta will sell better with older gamers, gamers that are much more interested in its awesome gameplay then anything else, because thats its great strength its amazing gameplay , bayonetta the character is one of the most charismatic to be created in the last decade well in line the creativity that only japanese developers have

Its to bad this isn't going to sell well , in fact no one in his right mind was expecting it to be a hit, but one thing im sure will happen is that in 10 years from now people will still be talking about bayonetta and will completely forget almost all the major hits of this generation

Really?  I'm 37.  Hmmmm...

Been there, done that NOT FOR A WHILE franchise , I would say, and certainly it's never been done like DrkS. Critics complain of the similarities between Darksiders and famous franchises of the PAST. I think anybody would be really hardpressed to find a game quite like Darksiders this generation. Bayonetta? straight-action with simple button-mashing combos and over-the-top style?  there's been plenty of that, good game though but really not "that" special.

Bayonetta isn't ab utton masher unless you play it on very low difficulties

it is.

As long as you can activate witchtime, pretty much every combination of kick and punch leads to a combo, I beat normal mode pushing random kicks and punch buttons...

The very fact of having to activate Witch Time means it's not a button masher, because there's at least that much to learning how to play.

And okay, yes, dodging will activate Witch Time against Grace and Glory, but you have to dodge in specific directions for every hit in any of their given combos. Using the Moon is a lot easier, but again, that does not make the game a button masher

What does the moon do? I spent all my halos on power ups and didnt buy any upgrades...

The Moon of Somethingsomething allows you to countr enemies - you know how when you're attacking Jeanne and she'll smack you backwards, knocking you off-balance? It lets you do the same thing. If you get them during a specific hi and using a counter-attack properly, it ativates Witch Time, and against Jeanne and the Chapter XVI boss it's a lot more reliable than dodging.

Sweet. Tahts what second playthrough is for...

@Khuutra

Im just curious now, what is exactly what you consider a button-masher? You made it sound like a button-masher is SPECIFICALLY a game you can beat just by pressing buttons at random and even doing that you won't get killed or not very often. I wonder how anybody can get through ANY game without the need to dodge, block, jump or take cover now and then to stay alive...if that's the definition of button-masher then that's really narrow and probably just really silly and easy games (or some set on very easy) can support that definition!

Button masher... button masher

Streets of Rage is an example of a very good button masher.

I beat it on normal and I was able to get away with abusing Witch Time and using a few memorized combos.....but try that shit on hard mode! You'll get clobbered on the prologue!!

bayonetta is tripe. the action is laughable. its not a game ppl want to play.

i predict many will feel ripped off after buying the game, the reviewers especially edge must have been drunk whilst playing bayonetta. save ur money for dante instead.
