i find this really amusinf that a game with 0 hype and lower reviews has outsold a so called masterpiece on both HD paltforms(darksiders has outsold bayonetta in america,,the only numbers we have upto now)

bayonetta:52.1K

darksiders:120.k

Xbox 360:

bayonetta:90k

darksiders:190k

I though bayonetta will do good but as it seems it is doing horribly.

definitely interesting. However i really havnt seen much on either game. I hope they both sell well though. Especially if the games are as good as ive heard they are.

- Bayonetta :

good game + a badass girl with no big blade (penis) + more difficult gameplay = good game

badass guy >> badass girl

porn game >> good game

one thing i noticed today in game stop today:

darsider srt cover is veryyy veryyy eye catching and tempting.I had no intention of buying any games but that art cover almost made me buy darsiders.

so i m sure many uninformed shoppers will choose darksiders over bayonetta based on cover alone,

The description of Darksiders as "hybrid of Legend of Zelda and God of War" just sounds so damned compelling to me.

Bayonetta demo and everyone's description of the game, and the negatives from reviews (including the negatives that apply to both PS3 and 360) leave me ambivalent about Bayonetta: It's clearly a good game, but just doesn't float my boat.

I think Bayonetta's appeal is limited due to the main character. The game also shows that its very Japanese with its campy voice acting, incoherent story, bishonen love interest. Gamers have pretty much moved passed this time. Bayonetta is a great action game that suffers from how Japanese it is. Final Fantasy actually does a much much better job of appealing to Western gamers despite its bishonen characters and melodrama.

I think Darksiders's sales can be attributed to the low expectations of skepical gamers. It really suprised them with the positive reviews it got.

It was meant to happen, Bayonetta's gameplay and difficulty appeals more to the hardcore gamer (plus the ps3 port kinda made a lot of people hate it) while Darksiders appeal more to the Casual gamer. And this Gen, casual gaming is the way to go -apparently- or just look at the wii's numbers.

Anyways. . i love Bayonetta and i don't need it to sell an amazing amount of copies, just enough so the developers keep doing games with a gameplay as awesome as this.

How much promotion is Darksiders getting? Ain't seen an advert or anything for it here in the UK. It's pretty much on every last review site going though, so my guess is THQ are really trying to push the game through internet media as oppose to TV and such like.

But yeah, both are going strong. Got to say I'm impressed how THQ are turning themselves around at the moment. Bayonetta isn't doing poor though, it's Japan + USA + Europe first weeks are going to add up to 600k+ in the end.

My only worry is both games will have their legs chopped off, Janaury isn't the strongest month for sales and theres alot more heading to the market.
