I expected Bayonetta to bomb on the PS3, but the 360 numbers looks kind of low to me.

I think people may be overestimating the sales numbers on games like Bayonetta (and also God of War III).  Anyone have any idea how any single-player only game is going to pull numbers that push it over 5 million in sales lifetime?  Maybe Final Fantasy XIII might, but any others?

who expected 5 million copies for these games?

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves = 1,301,138 (America)
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune = 1,314,613 (America)

Next week Unchated 2 surpass Unchated in America.

Great for Uncharted 2.

In regards to the Wii's YOY, keep in mind that it was heavily supply constrained at this point last year. Give it another week or two to see where sales will settle. Don't take that the wrong way, I'm not hating on the Wii. Impressive numbers for PS3 especially with it still being seemingly supply constrained.

Why do I remember last year as being the first year the Wii was not supply constrained?

Bayonetta dubuts less that Darksiders !
Who saw this coming !

I thought that was a given... Its a shame though. Platnum games has a gift for making memorable and classic games...but they are rarely rewarded with sales.

Good for Darksiders... seems like a cool game too.

im pretty sure it has a LOT to do with them fucking up the ps3 version. i would ecpect more sales if it was not for the bad press. o well like ive said before make a good game or dont make it on ps3.

This could be correct, I really dont know... but a lot of Ps3 fans response seems to be in the vain of "hahaha...you screwed up with PS3 version and your game didn't sell".

Kidna petty if you ask me...

it has been a very bad stigma with ps3 multiplats, developers just don't give a shit about the platform. I don't think it's petty at all, it's about time ps3 owners started to demand better from these developers, it would only make them care more thus making better multiplats, which is better for everyone

Its one of those...chicken and the egg theories.

If Sony knew how to make good development tools and didn't make their processors such a pain in the ass to program for, development would be a lot easier and less ports would suffer.

The argument just goes around in a circle...

Microsoft, who got its start selling computer languages for programmers, and also tools for developing on operating systems, has an edge over Sony in the development environment arena.  One can say Sony is superior to Microsoft on the hardware from for similar reasons.  With Microsoft, they are the only ones actively reaching out to small garage game developers, who are seeking their first break, on consoles.  End result is that Microsoft gets superior support from third-party.  All they had to do is remain near the PS3 with the 360s sales, and the developers follow.  This is an edge Microsoft offers, that Sony doesn't, and it is likely to remain this for a LONG time.  If you have the likes of Apple entering the videogame market, expect similar.  You do see this in the portable area with the iPod/iPhone as a gaming platform.

i dont think its a safe bet for GOW3 to hit 4m. im saying it will sell 3.5m high and 2.75 low

5 million sales for God of War III?  I believe youy would find some do this.  The talk is that a game is going to be a BIG title on a given console (like people expect of God of War III).  I peg BIG title to be something that breaks over 5 million.

damn thank you CGI you ALWAYS post stuff that makes sense

that's just your personal opinion. And yes, GOW3 is a huge title. It's going to get great reviews, fans are going to love it, and it's goinG BREAK  a few PS3.

One explanation is PS3 was hard to find over xmas and people are still picking it up as a result...? dont know what else explains it.... seeing as there has been a differential in favour of the 360 over xmas, why would that differential suddenly vanish?

Because not all parents pepole want a specific console for a specific game/library, some want/buy them becaues they are the "cool" and popular thing, the better a console sells overall, the bigger the boost it will get during holiday seasons.

yep RageBot,

you can also add : Xbox360 arcade : cheapiest next gen console

this is why the close to Xmas period is always in favor of the 360 : it is the cheapiest for the mummy

Or.....................developers take on a learning curve and conquer it, thus trying new things (the very argument you and I were defending in regards to Dark Void).

lol...its a little different when you have to learn controls for 5 mins or when you have to dedicate 100s of hours and manpower to porting a title.

I mean, do you like extra work of that magnitude? I certanly don't...

Nevertheless, Sega screwed up for sure but so did a lot of devs porting games...so sony screwed up as well for making it so painful to do this.
