One explanation is PS3 was hard to find over xmas and people are still picking it up as a result...? dont know what else explains it.... seeing as there has been a differential in favour of the 360 over xmas, why would that differential suddenly vanish?

The 360 is more of a "xmas" gift type of present. Its something thats bought a lot for kids who want to play with their friends and probably wanted it for xmas. The PS3 is probably able to hold after the holidays because its purcheses can be attributed to BD as well and it doesnt have the connotation as a "xmas gift" it will probably see less of a drop due to this.

Oh dear PS3 will outsell the x360(yay) again on a worldwide basis, can't wait to see the rest of the numbers

it's the future of handheld

Darksiders > Bayonetta... Pleaseant surprise...

I am happy that THQ is going in a new direction focusing on the core gamers and the core gamers responded by giving them solid January sales.

As expected, the sales difference between the ps3 and 360 were du to the cheap arcade purchase during Xmas

now that we are leaving holidays, the difference in sales has disappeared ...

Who saw this coming !

I thought that was a given... Its a shame though. Platnum games has a gift for making memorable and classic games...but they are rarely rewarded with sales.

Good for Darksiders... seems like a cool game too.

im pretty sure it has a LOT to do with them fucking up the ps3 version. i would ecpect more sales if it was not for the bad press. o well like ive said before make a good game or dont make it on ps3.

This could be correct, I really dont know... but a lot of Ps3 fans response seems to be in the vain of "hahaha...you screwed up with PS3 version and your game didn't sell".

Kidna petty if you ask me...

it has been a very bad stigma with ps3 multiplats, developers just don't give a shit about the platform. I don't think it's petty at all, it's about time ps3 owners started to demand better from these developers, it would only make them care more thus making better multiplats, which is better for everyone

Its one of those...chicken and the egg theories.

If Sony knew how to make good development tools and didn't make their processors such a pain in the ass to program for, development would be a lot easier and less ports would suffer.

The argument just goes around in a circle...

Surprised at how close PS3 and 360 are... With the 120GB still hard to find too.

Bayonetta should sell lots more from word of mouth

Because not all parents pepole want a specific console for a specific game/library, some want/buy them becaues they are the "cool" and popular thing, the better a console sells overall, the bigger the boost it will get during holiday seasons.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

I expected Bayonetta to bomb on the PS3, but the 360 numbers looks kind of low to me.

I think people may be overestimating the sales numbers on games like Bayonetta (and also God of War III).  Anyone have any idea how any single-player only game is going to pull numbers that push it over 5 million in sales lifetime?  Maybe Final Fantasy XIII might, but any others?
