A Metroid FPS should be launched once in a Nintendo Gen? Like MKWii

I loved Metroid First Person "Shooter" approach by Nintendo. So much that I don't want it to be dropped or turned into a 3rd person shooter.

They can make other genres with the game, just like Mario franchise, but I want Nintendo to keep launching one FPS Metroid every generation, just like Mario Kart. That way you don't saturate the Market, and you keep interest on the next title.

I think there's a big potential for the game to turn into an open box FPS\FPA, it has the right atmosphere and universe, also the spaceship would be your bitch to move around in land and Sky locations, and even from planet to planet.

Online multiplayer as good as CoD, and HD shinny graphics as a launch title for the next Nintendo console could please the Hardcore crowd and Metroid fans.

Am I right?

If by launching another Metroid FPS you mean launching another FPA like MP, I agree. If you mean changing Metroid and make a real FPS, like MP hunters, no thanks. I'd rather have a FPA.

I think they need to come up with a new IP that takes the FPS Mantle for them. I also think Kid Icarus could work in FPA form or over the shoulder TPA (if Metroid could do it, why couldn't Kid Icarus). Ultimately, I think Nintendo needs to either buy or create a studio for the purposes of developing more western FPS games. It does seem to be something lacking in their library though.

Metroid as a FPA or 2.5D style like Super Metroid or MetroidOM videos hint at is fine by me. As long as it is similar to the Metroid themes of past.

Hmm, Metroid Prime games should probably have some time between them alright, but not one per gen. Maybe two...

The thing is though, I think the series is declining again. Unlike many of the sequels to major Gamecube games, MP3 sold less than the Gamecube original. The compilation didn't seem to light the charts on fire either (though I love it). Something has obviously gone wrong with Metroid Prime. I could hazard a guess as to what it is, and I think it's fixable, hopefully they can reach sales of 4 or 5 million on successful consoles like Wii.

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

First Person Action-Adventure yes. First Person Shooter NO!!. Also Metroid Other M isn't a third person shooter nor from the knowledge provided will it be exclusively a third person game.

If they want a multiplayer FPS-thingie they should just create a new franchise that is that instead of turning Metroid into it.

Metroid 2 Echoes offline multiplayer was quite awesome.
the same for Metroid Prime Hunters, IMO, the best online FPS for the DS.

Despite the fact that it can turn into a major online shooter, it can still remain on its exploration roots on singleplayer.

I don't think it can. They can only focus on one or the other in my opinion. Maybe they could add a new online game that incorporates adventuring aspects in a 'manhunt' or "hide and seek" type of game play, but it wouldn't work with today's FPS schemes in my opinion.

Whos to say Nintendo don't make another Mario Kart this gen? Already we will have 2 Zelda's, 2 Mario 3D's, 2 Wii Sports, 2 Wii fits and 2 Metroids.
