Wireless controllers by default is one of the features I dislike most in this gen.

Wireless became the standard for a reason-- people, in general, don't like wires they have to fuss with.  It's cool you like wired for whatever reason, but most people hate having to deal with them.

Quick charge kit and 5 batteries sorts that issue for me (on the 360), PS3 I should really get a charger too though.

I know for a fact it WILL BE better. Microsoft has turned to Razer to develop several computer mice (mouses doesnt make sense) for them because the standard computer mouse sucks. Razer is one of the highest rated brands of PC accessories in the world, them making a controller means that Logitech, MadCatz, and the rest and royally screwed of WalMart starts selling it.

In fairness only PC gamers probably know about the quality of their products.

There's no need for arrogance, but now that you mention it, this gen has excessive focus on online multiplayer instead of proper single-player experiences.

@slowmo: while I may get a charge kit for the 360, I also plan to make that Razer controller my main one... making this kinda useless. You're right about the PS3, too.
