Forums - Nintendo Discussion - No More Heroes 2 is having limited shipments. Preorder advised

I walked into Gamestop about an hour ago and was told that since the game "did not sell so well", NMH2 will only have 2 copies sent to this particular store. I am assuming this will take place at every Gamestop (30% marketshare.)

Seeing as to how there are only two weeks left until release with zero advertising (as of January 12, 2010) don't expect high sales first week or first month. It is looking like it won't get the chance to sell much at all. Tatsunoku vs Capcom is in the same postion, but it has a tiny amount of shelf space designated (3 spots)

It is not only 'casual' games, but Wii software is getting limited in general...........

that sucks :(

why do that? if people asks for a particular game, that means it's at least a little popular :/

strange, you'd think they'd want to sell games, them being a gaming store and all

They have no idea how big the shipment is this early. You just got bullshitted haha. Basically them trying to get you to reserve the game (which you should) but they have no insight on this matter at all.

wow that sucks arse :(

I thought of that the second he said the word "reserve", but the concept makes sense. Konami did the same thing with Silent Hill: SM by limiting stock.

Yea I work at Gamestop so I know how they do it haha.  The way the company works is that for 80% of the games, the copies each store gets is based on reserves.  Company about a week or so before the game comes out will also order based on reserves and hype of how much they'll put in the warehouse.  Individual stores will never know this though.  Meaning that if individual stores want to get a lot of copies they have to get enough reserves to put them in the stores.  That's why it is always a good thing to reserve as a company to ensure your copy but the tactic he just used is just something to get you to reserve.  I sometimes tell people that we may not get a lot of copies in but it is purely speculative.  Trust me anyone working at Gamestop has absolutely no idea how many copies are actually being shipped.

Now for the other 20% of the games, those are the big ones.  About a week before the game comes out we find out how many shipments of the game we are going to get.  But those are the big ones like your Call of Duty and Halo and Mario, etc.

i might go out to EB Games next week and find some info on the game and see if it will get an MA15+ rating

my local game stores have ads for it all over the store.
