I REALLY agree with point 6, japanese cliches is probably one of my main reason why I don't play jrpg anymore. When I saw the happy little girl say after a combat '' Yeah ! We did it ! '' and then the main guy say '' Hmph ... I did it '' ( I'm looking at you Tale of Vesperia ) I just want to kill the main character.



           Sequel I want the most :

Patapon 3 , Elite beat Agent 2 , ROTK 12 , Mother 4, Legend of legaia      3, Resident Evil outbreak 3.

"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."

How about top ten ways to argue/discuss:

Have some basic knowledge in the discussion matter, don't go by stigmas, and actually play some of the better games in the genre you're discussing about.



Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

Oh... how bout we just make them shooters instead? Won't that be easier?

The cliche argument is one of the most bogus ones. You guys love cliches. The only thing is that you want JRPG cliches switched to WRPG cliches, such as the over reliance of knights in armor with mages fighting demon hordes that have crossed some boundary to over throw the land. Even when they take it into space it's just some machine horde or alien horder that's crossed some boundary and must be defended by space knights people with tech abilities identical to what a mage can do.

JRPGs don't need fixing. Especially when your "fixes" are just a check list of what WRPGs do. There are genres for a reason and not everyone wants every game to play to the same. Maybe JRPGs just aren't for you.



I mostly agree with the list, but I don't agree that Fallout 3's battle system (the pic for #10) kicks it up a notch. At higher levels in that game there is pretty much no challenge for the player because you 1) target the enemy's weak spot 2) shoot it multiple times 3) enemy is usually a pile or goo or decapitated before they can even attack you. Even in the uncommon instance that you are hurt badly, you can pause at any time load up on stimpaks. Taking stimpaks should require AP. The way Bethesda designed it is way too easy.

I completely agree about doing something about the stand in a line and take turns attacking each other battle system, but Fallout 3's battle system is hardly anything to aspire towards. I wish RPG developers in general would focus on making combat interesting.

Edit: Garcian Smith's list is actually very good. Agreed on all fronts there.
