Forums - General Discussion - Spider-Man 4 is DEAD - Sam Raimi and the cast are OUT! :'(

Spider-Man was one of the only comics I actually read when I was really young. I thought the Spider-Man movie was crap, and even worse than the Fantastic Four movie. On the other hand, I loved all four X-Men movies and both new Batman movies. The new Superman sucked balls too.

Ok I think I found out the problem.

You guys are too geek.

Spiderman 3 was an emo fest, and all the acting was just terrible, except for James Franco imo.

To be honest with you, I didn't really see the "emo fest" in the story. There was one part where Peter had a pretty funny style, but wasn't that because the stuff that made Venom got on Peter?

Its called a symbiote not stuff

STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When a franchise like Spiderman, has a movie that is remembered for a lame jazz dance scene...

It's time for a reboot.

I liked 1 & 2 - 3 had too much interference from Studio and Marketing, and it looks like 4 would have had even more.

So I think they were right to bail. Plus, at 34, even allowing for his looks, Maguire is probably moving out of the age range that makes sense for Peter Parker.

I don't mind a change of director and actor, but I don't want a full reboot with a new origin. They should jump in with Peter already 'converted' and at most maybe have some short flashbacks if they want to show the new Peter Parker getting bitten, etc.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Spiderman 1 & 2 were good movies... the third one would be good too without that stupid sandman.
The Dark Knight was awesome, but I don't think Spiderman would fit on a movie like that.

Considering that the Spiderman Movies consisted of two mediocre films and one horribly stupid movie, and Drag Me To Hell was one of the best horror films of the last 5 years, I'm glad that Sam Raimi is free of the web slinger.

As for a Reboot. I think it's pretty funny that Hollywood is no longer hiding behind the remake excuse of "we're updating this movie for today's audiences" They're now just being honest and saying "why not, there's money to make!"

There's no way Spider-Man is mediocre.

I don't know what kind of problem you guys have but you're all rather disturbed...

Maybe you just like to hate popular stuff?...

It's true. I always wait until I can see how successful a film was before I decide to like or hate it.

That would explain why I don't know any of your favorite movies (except Bon Cop Bad Cop - which was really bad ahah).

Ah yes... My old support Canadian films phase. I'm sure I'll get back in to some Canadian film once I go back home.  Those are still good movies, though I wouldn't put them in my top list now.

I think my problem with Spiderman 1 and  2 (there's no point arguing that 3 didn't stink) was that while they were good at the time, they just don't hold up well. It was sort of a "introduction to mainstream superhero movies" A test case to see if the mainstream viewer (not just teenage boy) could buy in to a mutant action crime fighter. And once it had served it's purpose, the genre exploded, with some films being great, and others stinking. But most of those later movies all had a self-assuredness about them. They didn't have to hold your hand the way Spider-man did.

Meanwhile, Drag me to hell was one of the best films of the year. So why wouldn't I want the director of it to be free of Spiderman's web?

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Some of you make me sad :'(

Spider-Man is the best superhero of all time and the best superhero movie franchise!!!

It was going so well...All three movies were great! Even the third! And the second was awesome!

I don't want a new Mary Jane... :'( She was perfect.

I'm sorry, I like Kirsten, but she is certainly not Mary Jane.  I never did like that she was cast for the part.  I am kinda sad that they are redoing the series, but I was soooo disappointed in what they did with 3.  I was so looking forward to Venom and was so disappointed in what they did with him, and Eddie Brock is not supposed to be a scrawny weasle.

I wanted to see the fugly spider man thing, not venom, the other one i heard about.

Im abit pissed for that reason only, dont know who the fuck he is thats why, when i was a kid it was always Spider man and venom, i guess i quite watching thw cartoon and stop readin' the comics to find out who the hell he was...

Ah well, could careless either way.

Carnage?:

huh? guess that must be him, his gufly mug does resemble venoms but is red with trimed black? whats his powers?

I love Spiderman 1 quite a bit.

It's very corny nowadays but I still enjoy it now.

2 had the action comprised for a love story and 3 was all over the place.

If they handle this reboot well, I think I can live with it.

Pixel Art can be fun.
