Absurdity is not always enough to be identifiable parody. Both those things in your first paragraph are done by people who would hold those opinions sincerely. The Petz page is cherrypicking, not exactly an uncommon tactic. The "duct tape" comment is not uncommon.

I was afraid of having the thread locked or even possibly being banned for making it too believable and getting reported for trolling.  Since this was my first attempt, I played it a little safe, haha.

Also, I was annoyed that some users love to cherry pick to justify their warped views of reality, and I was trying to show the ridiculous nature of such logic, so I wanted it to be absurd.

lol nice. I've done that before in a similar thread a year ago or so and only two people noticed it. However, I purposely slightly changed the font/color to try and make it barely noticeable with default colors/theme.

Theres too many and its just boring now, just quit. Everyone knows the wii could stop selling completely now and still finish this gen 1st and probly by a good couple mill, people keep saying it wont even finish 1st and its dooomed just for a joke allll the daamn tiiime. Not funny.

Look, if you have an issue with the thread, report it.  I'm not going to argue about it.  Also, I used the "duck tape" spelling on purpose, haha, don't change it around.

@Superchunk: Rol's Wii Bingo thread didn't, though, and that's what I was inspired by.  It's my favorite thread of his.  Also, it can be damn hard to start the pargraphs with the right letter.  The "F" in Fit was particularly annoying.  I had to change around the order of the entire paragraph.

Actually , that link you gave doesn't prove anything. maybe YOU had trouble identifying which sites were parodies but me and my little bro, who i brought to take the "test" with me, we both scored 7/7 in recognising whcih sites were parodies... >_>

so to tarheel91, i think the thread was awsome, really well written. i guess if the thread was any more subtle you would be getting flamed to a crisp by members thinking it's real. right now it's a balance between subtle enough to "get" some people yet obvious enough to not get flamed by everyone who reads the thread.

but i still think more subtle == more FUN ;)

I haven't taken the test, I just googled Poe's Law example. It's fine if the point of the parody is to "trap" people and make fun of them for not "getting it", but I assumed to point was to be satirical and humorous.

More evidence of desperation of people trying to find as much as they can.

I could point out that 360 had a 1 year head start, is the darling of the thirdparty development and yet still loses ground week by week. Just gotta love that immenent success. I could also point out that the PS3 a techinicly superior machine is losing week by week with an occasional boost, but over all since the same time release has failed to be any compitition.

It's just pathetic that some one feels the desperation that PS3 360 = Team. Sorry, but thats not the truth. There is a saying "The enemy of my enemy is my ally". This saying only works when your also not the enemy of the enemy. The console situation is that each console has 2 front creating a triangle of competition.

PS3 and 360 are not allys. It's a pathetic attempt to hold onto the desperation that it's time for an industry to grow up and people are kicking and screaming like little whiny children. PC market did this as a whole with only a small percentage that linger due to console gamers migrating in.

anyways I love the sarcasm. It's great :)



Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
