Forums - Gaming - Project Natal vs. Playstation Motion Wands: Which has the MOST Potential?

and why?

Seems like natal can only detect movements if you are far from it and from what i have seen theres always a little bit of slowdown,i dont think natal can detect the movement of your fingers, will be extremely hard to play halo with it,you will need a lot of space to move from one place to another in the game.how would you play RPGs?,or Third person shooters?dont think natal has a lot to offer, dont believe it will attract the casual gamers either.Microsoft needs to show us more

Playstation "Wand" seems to have a lot more potential, did you watched the e3 demo? 1:1 motion controls, theres no delay,it does first person shooters beautifully.I hope it has an analog stick,if it doesn't i cant see this controller being a huge succes

Since your thread has no content im going to say neither and that Nintendo is the only developer with a proven track record with similar interfaces so Wii Motion +.

Playstation Motion Wands.

I'm not a fanboy.

Potential to do what? Sell? Be the best gaming peripheral?

I think Natal has more potential than the Sony Wands because firstly, it's meant to be cross-platform and there are many more 360/PC owners out there than there are PS3 owners. I think the retail price of Natal will be lower too, and I think that motion controls are flawed in respect of there being no feedback, so if you're going to use them, you might as well free yourself from a controller altogether. I think that the general public will pick up on this in terms of perception once the ads start to hit TV, so I don't see the Wands attracting as many new people to the PS3 (as they will just think "it's the Wii all over again!") as Natal will attract to the 360. I also think that MS will market Natal far better than Sony will market their Wands and you'll probably see 360 Arcade + Natal + Natal game bundles available much cheaper than PS3 + Wand + Wand game bundles.

Another thing is whether either company will patch existing games to use these accessories and whether that will give gamers a tangible advantage over people that don't own them. That could also make/break them.

Sales = Natal
Gaming performance = I'll wait and see what they're like before judging them

I'm a Sony fanboy but Natal has outright more potential and marketing hype.

I think Sonys Motion controller. First I cant see a concept which would benefit from natal and not from Gem and which could make an impact.

Second I believe that without tactile feedback it will be a shitty feeling natal reminds me of this device for the nes which worked with a power field and transfered your movements into movement on the screen.

And another reason is because the company which invented Natal showed it Nintendo first but they didnt wanted it and I think they had pretty good reasons to do it.

Ofcourse I havent actually played with Natal or Gem so I wait for the next months to make my final conclusion.

Sony's motion controller is a Wii-mote.

What it is and isn't capable of has already been shown. And as it is a second-to-market product, it's potential sales-wise is extremely limited.

Natal may flop completely, but it is a no-brainer that it has FAR more potential to succeed and expand the way games are played.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

starcraft is right, as usual.

For reasons I can't quite put my finger on, I like this post.

starcraft said it all. The Wand is a wii-mote, Natal is hand-less gaming, obviously Natal has far, far bigger potential. Of course, critically and commercially, Natal is also a much bigger risk.
