I generally don't pirate anymore. I did a lot just a year ago though, but now I'd just feel bad about it. I don't like it.

Do you feel bad about pirating TV shows and old movies?

I mean, you can watch them on TV for free... and unless your viewing habits are being tracked, it's not like anyone will ever know that you watched it (on TV or with a copied version).

It's actually funny, but I don't have a problem recieving something pirated when I get it from a friend, but I don't like downloading things myself.

I guess in general, I don't like not feeling like I haven't got the right to view/listen/play something, unless I contribute something to its creator. Most of my music is pirated, but I haven't actually pirated music in ages.

I also have a thing about quality though, which comes into play with movies. I trust IMDB a lot when it comes to scores (as I usually agree with them), so I know which movies I want to watch and will most likely like. If it's a movie I think I'll like, I have no issue waiting for a blu-ray release. I still haven't seen Fight Club for instance, and I won't, until I get the blu-ray.

Mostly just movies... sometimes tv shows and music. Never games or software.

But in many cases you aren't contributing to its creator. You aren't contributing when you watch it on TV (the TV station is, but unless they know your viewing habits it doesn't make a difference whether you watch it or not).

In music (and in many cases, books), the artists get a ridiculously low percentage of sales revenue. To the point that some musicians have said they don't care if you pirate their stuff or not, since most of their money is made on concerts and t-shirt sales.

I absolutely respect your view, just throwing out some thoughts.

Yeah, I know it can be pretty futile at times, but it's probably more of a feel-good thing for myself, than it is anything else.

If I like somthing, I'll honor the effort gone into it by spending my money on it, instead of letting it go unrewarded

Never, I'm annoyingly squeaky clean.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

i am clean for almost 2 years now. (if Streaming movies on the net doesnt count :P )

I'm a Foreigner, and as such, i am grateful for everyone pointing out any mistakes in my english posted above - only this way i'll be able to improve. thank you!

I pirate anything that can be pirated, games, films, and music.
I recently watched Avatar in a cinema, for the 3D, and I occasionally buy an online game that needs online registration or something like this.

I honestly believe that the entertainment industry should change its attitude, not me. Nowadays, anyone is able to freely copy any software trough the Internet, therefore they should accept this and try to earn their profit from other services, such as quality cinemas, live concerts, game hardware (consoles and peripherals, etc. ), instead of selling copies of the software for money, based on archaic copyright protection laws.

Dude! you have to see it.

OT: Uhmm, i try to not pirate indie stuff (movies and music). And, i try to pirate things from ppl i dont like, i cant remember when was the last time i bought anything from microsoft. But, i reckon that, at my age and with my income, i've bought more legit movies and music than the average resident of my country by a huuuge margin.

Games, well never for a console, or handheld, some for pc.

And, does nes and snes emulators count as piracy?

hell yeah, finally cleaned the dust of my wii, usb loader gx FTW

I answered "sometimes".

I will perhaps pirate movies. I pay for a premium film service seperately and am just viewing them early in my mind.

I also pirate certain softwares if they are being unreasonable.

For instance I purchased a boxed DVD recorder as it stated it was supplied with a free copy of a prominent disc authoring product.

On arrival it was a massively cut down demo which was near useless and the cost to upgrade was prohibitive. I subsequently pirated the full version.

I dont pirate games (too much damage) or music (Dont really care for music).
