Forums - Sony Discussion - Could inFamous 2 be the new Uncharted 2?

Im not talking graphics but more in a sense of experience, brilliance, epicness and story..

The first Uncharted game had low hype and no one really cared too much about it. But word of mouth (and bundles) helped carry this game and people started noticing the amazing story in Uncharted Drakes Fortune. And after a while it became a must have title among PS3 owners and the success of Uncharted 2 made even more people eager to catch up on what Uncharted Drakes Fortune was all about. And the series is now, imo, bound to be a "classic" further down the generation and into the next.

As for inFamous, i kinda get the same vibe. Not "alot" of people have played it (1.26m), but most of the ones that have played it just instantly fell in love with the story and gameplay. Even though the characters of Uncharted are much more evolved and have depth, the main story of inFamous is just brilliant. It has all the potential to keep good legs with word of mouth and with the help of a good sequal, and really is a must buy title for any new PS3 owner. Both games are new IPs for this generation and both games hit us with an amazing singleplayer. Both games started off kind of slow but really made an impact on the community.

So now.. inFamous 2 should be in the works, and rumors has it that they'll release some info on it at E3. Do you think that with both games being somewhat identical when it comes to being successful new IPs, both giving gamers an amazing experience, and both titles having received a fanbase which praise the games excellence.. that inFamous 2 might be an instant success much like Uncharted 2? GOTY contender, classic, good fanbase etc..

Is infamous a true open world/sandbox game?

remember successes like uncharted 2 hardly ever happen in terms of praise & reviews, it has a 96 on metacritic, thats is very rare

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

It's already got the most important factor for being teh best game EVA, it's a PS3 exclusive.

If sony does the same thing they did with uncharted then they have a shot at the 2nd infamous selling faster than the first did. so the should add infamous into the 250gb ps3 to grow the base of people who played the first before the 2nd comes out.

Don't know the definition of "true" but its like GTA. Three islands that unlock as the story goes, but besides that, you can pretty much access everything.. even more so being heavily focused on the vertical aspects of an open world.

I don't think so.

It lacks charm, imo.

Ok. So is the guy joking above, BladeofGod saying "no it's very linear"?

Yeah that's open world. But can I go back to areas I have finished? And is there respawned enemies there or what?
