Forums - Gaming Discussion - Which console game will have the best graphics in 2010?

the 360 has shown no signs of topping the PS3 in graphics. it has even been 1,5 year longer on the market. and we all know that usually the longer into the console cycle = better graphics. so in my opinion we can exclude all 360 games right now. PS3 games will take this easy, mark my words. GOW3 is said to "shit" all over UC2 and the 360 hasn't even shown anything close to even this game..

Hard to say which PS3 game though, I would have to go with GOW3, The Last Guardian or GT5. But since GT5 is a racing game, it is kind of bound to have amazing graphics anyways

While I agree that the 360 is behind on the visual front, not necessarily a fault of the specs, I can't agree that the 360 won't at least continue to compete. Beyond that, IMO does it really have to compete? Look at what is being provided for it in 2010:

- Mass Effect 2

- Alan Wake

- Splinter Cell: Conviction

- Halo: Reach

- Fable III

- Metro 2033

Even if none of those touch games on the PS3 visually, which isn't necessarily true IMO, I don't see the big deal. They'll satisfy their fanbase and show that the 360 is capable of graphically appealing games.

Of course ^^ Great graphics does not = great games! so I have no problem saying that those 360 games will be great games. But since this thread was about amazing graphics, I don't see any need to bring any 360 games to the discussion. the 360 games can have great art-style though and of course be graphically appealing, but mind blowing, new generation-defining graphics? A BIG NO. That's for the PS3 games to handle. PS3 games are the games that are pushing console graphics this generation and last generation it was XBOX.

Forza by far is much better than Turismo. Better playing and looking. You may disagree but its a fact. I have had both systems. 360 does have better graphics and will continue that way. These machines are almost maxed out power wise I think but 360 does better textures, lighting, and colors. It just has better graphics and the controller is also better. No doubt here, call me a fanboy. I'm a gamer and the box is mine.

Wow, really surprised not many ppl mentioned GoWIII! Am I the only one who saw the HipHop gamer/N'gui-something-or-other video interview of them after playing a portion (all footage/gameplay unseen by the public) of GoWIII? I don't really know much about HipHop gamer, nor do I have much interest in GoWIII, but their reactions in the interview and the things they said actually intrigued me for a game I never had the slightest interest in. The one guy was speechless, and kept fumbling over his words when he tried to respond to questions asked about what he had played. They were going nuts over it, and when they talked about the graphics they were equally as amazed and basically said it is going to, graphically, blow Uncharted 2 out of the water! They also said something like (don't quote me exactly), "if u were a game company releasing a game in 2010, then you should go back to the drawing board." Just bc of GoWIII!!! So bc of this, I am really expecting GoWIII to look pretty amazing.

On a different note, I think Heavy Rain will look incredible from what I've seen. I was blown away when I saw the demo of detective Shelby in the convenience store that gets robbed. It looked so real! And this is even more impressive to me bc I only saw that video on my (5-year old) laptop screen, so I know it's going to look significantly better on my 1080p tv! I know this bc I watched the Uncharted 2 hotel scene (when he's ontop of the hotel with the pool) on my laptop, and wasn't very impressed with the graphics. But my computer just didn't do the graphics justice, bc when I played that scene on my tv/ps3 when I bought the game I was 100% blown away. Never seen anything graphically like Uncharted 2.

On a final note, although I think Alan Wake looks very interesting, I don't think it'll take home best graphics (maybe artistically? like with the neat bullet-time flare moments and such?). I think it looks good from what I've seen, but I just know that I've heard over and over that developers have kind of hit a wall as far as how much they're able to push out of the 360 graphically and performance wise. So I don't think a "best graphics" award will be coming from a 360 exclusive anymore. But then again, by the time AW releases it will have seen a 6-year development cycle, so u never know...

Crysis 2
God of War 3
Halo REACH
Heavy Rain
GT5
Alan Wake

It all depends on personal preference though.

Also depends on genre. An open world game could never be better looking than a on-rail shooter on the same console.

Who cares? Nothing on the two will really be able to hold a candle to PC games anyhow. =\

I can't see anything from 2010 being better-looking than Crysis from 2007, and now there is Crysis 2 with an updated engine coming this year.

We don't really care about Crysis 2, because there won't be any hardware that makes full use of this game when it releases. Just like Crysis in 2007.

You don't know that - the main issue with Crysis 1 was that EA pushed it out the door, and thus they didn't get to spend enough time polishing it, as Crytek have said in interviews.

And moreover, if they've ported Cryengine 3 to PS360, that means it can run on obsolete hardware... which means that the PC version will be able to run perfectly fine on modern hardware.
