Forums - Nintendo Discussion - I believe in Wii HD

yep, you read it correctly. I think that Pachter is right and at E3 nintendo will announce a wii that displays in high definition.

but thats not all it will do. I see nintnedo trying quite a relauch to reach mainstream gamers. sony relaunched with the slim, 360 will relaunch with natal and wii will launch with a new SKU. The relaunch will be huge, taking place soon after E3 with supported with massive marketing push and a trade in programme. software support will be the tripply threat of mario, metorid and zelda all within 6 months of each other, with retro's new title leading in 2011. as well as HD there will also be some other big advance but im not sure what that will be

possible additions could also be a bluray player and improved online but im not too sure of those.

is there anyway this could be true?

Well, if Ninty do release a Wii HD... I'd have thought is would be counted as a standalone console, not a Wii relaunch.

I believe on a "new" Wii but a re-design and some extra optional features. DS-> DSi.

Not a WII SEQUEL

I completely agree with your Wii relaunch theory. I posted something like this in another thread. With the release of a Super Mario Galaxy sequel, a Zelda sequel, and many others as well as maybe Star Fox?? Plus the new hand held having High Res outputs i think there's a very good chance that we could be seeing this. Perhaps 3-D gaming as well to go with the new 3-D TVs that will be releasing this year.

"What have i done.? Is it too late to save me from this place? From the depths of the grave? We all are those .. who thought we were brave."

I am skeptical. If it does happen, I expect all games to be forward-compatible, that it won't run any retail software the Wii can't, and.... I don't know.

Maybe.

Why would they release another console when they are stomping the PS3 and XBox

When the wii stops selling they will release an HD console

I believe that Nintendo is (pretty) far into the development of their next generation hardware, which will have (more than) enough processing power to produce HD graphics, but I don’t think that they are aiming for a 2010 release; and a 2011 release is questionable. For a company which is reliably producing multi-million selling titles for a system that is (roughly) as powerful as the N64, and another system which is (roughly) as powerful as last generation consoles, there is no immediate need to push for new expensive hardware.

Nintendo's gonna be the last to release their next console, they're pounding everyone right now.

Also what does a resolution have to do with gaming I never understood, what's the difference between gaming on a resolution of 640x480 compared to 1280x720 or 1920x1080? It's still a game. THe worst thing about video games reviews are the "graphics" score. Sorry for getting off topic.

so, Nintendo will launch a brand new +$300 console 4 years after they launch the fastest selling home console ever, and piss off every consumer that has bought a wii so far with the exception of a handful of internet nerds?

they can't make a Wii HD like the DSi, as both those systems play all the same games with the exception of a few camera specific things. Metroid, Mario and Zelda on a Wii HD would in no way be compatible with a regular Wii unless they made it in non HD, which would defeat the purpose.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

"I see nintnedo trying quite a relauch to reach mainstream gamers."

This loses credibility of the OP for me. The rest of the comment is largely based on this assumption, and with a false foundation, the whole thing crumbles.

In case you haven't guessed what I mean, the Wii has reached the mainstream as it is. What the hell makes the OP think HD is appealing to the mainstream, when it hasn't happened with the other systems? Please don't tell me the price was the only think holding HD back.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
