well?
if yes, do you think our species will survive it?
I don't think there will be one because we would end up in a stalemate.
Countries are afriad of possible implications on any actions they make.
If there is, you better hope it stays conventional.

In a limited tactical nuclear exchange humanity would survive. In a full scale (likely Russia/USA) nuclear war humanity would not see it through in any serious way.
In the event of a Third World War fought on conventional terms, you could be sure of nothing except that the USA would not lose. That is not to say they would win, simply that they currently overwhelm their opponents conventional capabilities to such an extent as to ensure a cushion of protection around continental USA, and power projection capabilities well beyond that of any other nation.
For example, the nearest Naval rival on the globe at present is Britain, almost certainly America's most steadfast ally in any future conflict.

The world is too politically and economically intertwined, this will likely prevent a world war 3 while conditions are like this.
...
Allow me to explain with an example, both the USA and China are extremely powerful countries, in fact one would go as far to say they are the two most powerful countries. Even though these countries have had past discretions they are now too dependent on each other to go to war against one another.
The USA requires China's existence to produce certain goods which are vital to the economy and from what I understand China support the USA financially. It works in return too, china requires the USA's existence for it's own economy, it needs the USA for industry and employment.
It's not beneficial for either of these superpowers to go to war with each other, it would only bear negative consequences.
...
All of the worlds major powers are dependent on all the other major powers for many reasons, reasons which did not exist in the conditions of the other two world wars. It would be foolish for a powerful country to go to war with another powerful country.
...
Unless a major upset in the balance of power occurs, then I don't see another world war happening. Large wars, yes; world wars, no.
