Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony Increasing The Storage Capacity Of Blu-Ray Discs

Technically, it's the Blu-ray consortium of 12 or so companies which Sony happens to be a part of that is making the change. Kotaku's journalism skills at their finest.

Good news none-the-less.

the Dual layer blu-ray is 66gbs now.It has been confirmed

How would Kojima be pleased considering MGS4 used a DL BR (50GB) unless this also increases the DL space as well to 66GBish?

Alot of companies have membership of Blu-ray consortium but only a few companies have control over its devlopments.Sony,Panasonic and one more company(i think so Pioneer, don't remember)own more than 85%percent of blu-ray.

They could go even bigger, I remember when blu-ray first came out they were talking about 200GB discs.

Could backup 40 of your DVD's on 1 blu-ray disc lol

Unicorns ARE real - They are just fat, grey and called Rhinos

Impressive.

Evan Wells (Uncharted 2): I think the differences that you see between any two games has much more to do with the developer than whether it’s on the Xbox or PS3.

That was talk about a disc with enough layers to reach 200 GB. Now the storage capacity of a single layer has been increased from 25 GB to 33,4 GB.
