Forums - Gaming Discussion - Dragon Age Expansion Pack Announced

Coming March 16 at an eyebrow raising price of $40, Dragon Age: Origins- Awakening promises to be set in Amaranthine, where you can import and revise your characters from the main game or create a brand new character to take on "The Architect" who apparently made an appearance in one of the prequel novels. Among the more exciting news in this expansion is that there will be five new recruitable party members.

Should be great when it comes out, I think I'm holding off on the next DLC and waiting for this!

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

Awesome news! I have 3 DLCs atm and I'm definitely getting this!

gaaz, I should have just waited fo the GOTY edition. $40 is the price I paid for the game. It's crazy to pay the same for DLC. We'll see...

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

I have trust in Bioware, so 40$ makes me think this expansion will be almost as big as the original game. So definite buy.

Hmm this expansion ties directly into the ending of the game. No matter what you do, the Grey Wardens of Ferelden are granted Amaranthine as their land to rebuild the order. This expansion puts you in the role of the Grey Warden Commander of Ferelden in charge of rebuilding the order. Depending on how you played the original quest you can bring you existing character over or play a Grey Warden from Orlais. 5 new party members plus one returning character (Morrigan?). This expansion certainly sounds worth the cost. Especially since it raises the level cap, has new specializations and skills etc. It sounds like a new game. If this DLC is as good as it sounds, it is DLC done right. Speaking of DLC, The Return to Ostagar was released today. I have to DL it when I get home from work.

About time, the DLC was... shaite to be honest.

Actually you have to hold off on the DLC since it's been delayed =(

This is going to be awesome!!!

I hope there's at least one unique character like the dog.

Sounds like this one will be worth of a few play throughs as well.

I'll pass. DLC is an over prices rip-off for this game. Wardens keeps was 560 points for an hour.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.
