@ taking the Wii version over the HD version. Lol. Have you guys played both?

The Wii version is nice for the Wii. But taking it over the HD version? The controls just aren't that good guys. I can't help but notice a couple folks who said that don't actually own a HD console. I suppose, if you've got a SD TV, maybe that comment has some merit. I think you'd be hard pressed to find HD TV/HD console owners who would agree, however.

I am one of those and yes i have a 360 (my third one even) and playing on a hdtv but the controlls alone makes the wii version superior to me.

You're a big enough 360 gamer to put up with 2 RRoDs, yet you never listed a 360 game on your profile, but took the time to list 250+ not-360 games?

Okay.  I guess you're the uh... anecdotal majority in your own post.

After going through all Nes games, Snes games, the few pc games xbox games i got tired of adding every game one by one it takes forever to go through them all, ive been gaming since game & watch, vectrex, nes era and i have or have had every console except ps3, ds and psp so i decided to add the rest when it´s made alot easier to add games or when i am very bored one day.

Edit: ive never had a Sega console (except for their portable) either but never needed too since i swapped consoles with friends back then and got to play most of the games worth playing anyway.

I don't think this will mean much to other publishers as Call of Duty is such a huge franchise. I doubt it will encourage sega to publish the conduit 2 for instance (or other 'hardcore' games). Though I think it's safe to say the next call of duty game will come to the wii, along with modern warfare 2 at some point in time.

I guess to a certain extent it's good for wii owners craving some of the games that the 360/ps3 get but I'd argue rather than talking about how well/poorly 'hardcore' games do on the wii, and whether such games will continue to make an appearance on the wii is...well pointless.

How do you shift what you don't have?

@Ail: MW is a big seller and MW2 is even bigger, but it is a mainstream game not simply a core one. The core market is a bit of an illusion really. Many people that buy the big 'core' IPs are casual players that will drift away from gaming. There is such a thing as a teen and 20 year old casual market. They might not buy Wii Fit but they do buy GTA and COD.

Some of those casual players are playing in a non casual way then.

I've spent around 6 hours playing MW2 online.

I'm ranked 4 millionth on the PSN leaderboard ( and MW2 has only sold like 5.4 million units on the PS3 so far)

That is a lot of players that spent hella lot of time online .....

The thing I wanted to point out is that since last year HD console ownership increased and as a result MW2 sales are beating CoD4.
Wii ownership increased too ( and Reflex may not have gotten advertising but everything CoD related is getting a lot of indirect advertising with MW2) but Reflex sales aren't doing a lot better than WaW, so there isn't much reason to rejoice...

I agree that teens and early undergraduate students play in a non-casual casual way. They have more free time, but I can assure you they will only know the big games and will perhaps buy a handful of games. This is the traditional casual gamer market. i.e. They don't game as a hobby.

I'm happy with the games coming out over the next year, so I'm not fussed if big 'core' games come or not. I'm happy with my niche core and occasional franchise games and nintendo numbers.

On a side note, is there a thread in the website section about making adding games more intuitive?

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

I love my 360, maybe even more than my Wii, but I still prefer to play my shooters on the Wii by far. Dual analog is "ok" wheras Wii controls are amazing for shooters (if done right, ofcourse).

I have a PS3 and I still chose to buy the Wii version of CoD:W@W. The Wii feels more natural to play games in first person view than the PS3, as I feel my actions with the Wii remote are closer to the character's compared with the dualshock. In some games, such as Bioshock, I enjoyed the graphics and the story, but felt detached from the main character, which is never good. In the other hand, I have not problem with the dual nipples in third person view games, as it feels as I am playing with some puppets. Graphics are an important part of the game, but I think the graphics in the Wii are functional enough to provide me immersion. The same thing I can't say about the PS3's controller.

You guys realize that being a 2-year-old port is not really a big deal, considering that both this game and WaW would obviously be purchased on another platform, if it were available. Its not old if it wasn't available, no matter how long the wait.

But wasn't the excuse of Bioshock being a late port the reason why the PS3 version flopped?

@Ail..What does that have to do with anything?

I dunno.  We don't really know the number of dual HD console owners, or the propotion of PS3 owners, at that point, who were really "gamers" likely to buy a shooter, as opposed to people who wanted, and could afford, a good BD player.

I still think my supposition is mostly true.

Sounds more like an excuse than an actual explanation especially since that was 2008 when people were buying GTA4, LBP, Resistance 2, and MGS4 on the PS3... so much for the movie buffs :P

@your comments about MW Wii vs MW 360/PS3, put it like this, I've owned the game spanning 360, PC, and Wii, the only version superior to the Wii version would be the PC version, the only things the Wii version lacks is local multi (which isn't even in the PC version either and they added squadmate mode) and the lack of the DLC maps.  But the Wii controls are miles ahead of the 360 version and would be the console version of choice, so unless the PS3 and 360 game sprouts a mouse and keyboard and some mod support, this is a no brainer, people like good controls in FPS games.
