I would say the peak of PS3 sales will come between now and 6 months from now in terms of taking a singular 12 month period of the highest sales. They will not cut the price to $199 next year and I cannot see them taking more than $50 off the year after as they do need to reach a profitable compromise, that will only sustain sales which are lower than the current peak and probably no more than that.

You think the PS3 will remain $299 until 2012?

OT: I think it could pull off 14-15mill by March 2011: end of the fiscal.

yes I'm really looking forward to see SONY's targets

everyobe laughed at their targets for this year, but they will make it!

they might, they might not, its far from assured.

but i dont remember people laughing at it... people were doubting it because they didnt think sony wanted to take a kick in the profits to get there... but Sony were apparently prepared to do that.

I think if they are a bit off they may simply stuff retailers on the hope that FFXIII & GOW3 in March will give huge boosts

The PS3 is 3 million away from Sony's target --> very much doable in three months with God of War III and GT5 (Japan) yet to come.

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III

Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII

Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

I see 14mil plus in 2010 calender, that is if they don't do something stupid and counter any MS pricecut.

Most times 3rd year is the peak year, but this gen is far from normal. I bet the 360 will have it's peak year this year (5th year), so who knows.

^This

of course, it can continue its trend, even without $199 price..

I believe that only Others is now price sensitive.

The US has decided and Japan has decided.

The gap in the US is now higher than it was the day before the PS3 slim launched, that speaks volumes.

Put a 199$ PS3 and see how sensitive americans get.   Japan is probably the only market where no matter what one console doesn't take off.

@kowenicki

it does, obviously it does.  what a 360 would cost by then wouldn't matter that much.

I actually Xxpect PS3 to be 45millish by the end of 2010

a bit difficult, imo 360 is going to recover the lost ground again this year...

so...

more sales for X360 means less sales for Ps3...

if you maintain cost matters then the cost of the 360 also matters.

They both matter yes, but they don't have to matter to the same extent.
