the competition just had better games, wii fans can't accept it. New Super Mario isn't that GOOD, but its a FUN game.

Everyone's focussing on NSMB Wii not being up for overall game of the year. I don't have a problem with that. There was VERY stiff competition this year with the likes of MW2, Uncharted 2, Batman AA etc.

I think the more important point from the OP is about Wii game of the year:

"They don't pick Wii exclusive games for wii game of the year"

I think they wanted to give DJ Hero and Beatles their fair due since they are great games and were squeezed out of other game of the year categories. But I don't think the choices were appropriate for the Wii when you had games like Little King's Story and Punchout this year.

I'll say it again, Shane Satterfield said that he thought LKS was one of the great games of 2009. Sure, it might not compete with the likes of MW2 and Uncharted 2 for mass appeal and critical acclaim, but it doesn't have to to be nominated for Wii game of the year!

So why weren't LKS and Punch Out nominated? It's a mystery.

Both "Fun" and "Good" are subjective, and in my opinion it is contradictory to say something that is Fun isn't Good as you have had some enjoyment out of it.

@OP As for Gametrailers, they are just targetting their audience, let them be. Most of their commentors and posters dislike the Wii and are fans of the HD Consoles, and because of that they will choose Hd centric games. But what bothers me is when they intentionally choose a poorly transferred multiplat, and a 2 year old port as game of the year, as we have seen with the case of Modern Warfare Reflex for the Wii, and Modern Warfare 2 for the PC just because they are popular rather than them truly being their favorite games of the year with a well versed background to choose from.

Don't slam gametrailers too hard. One of the last invisible walls episodes had them discussing what games they are looking forward to. Now, Invisible walls is probably the pinnacle f fanboyism on the site (depending on the guests in the Bonus Round.)

Most of the guys were really looking forward to Metroid: Other M. SMG2 also got a mention and there was agreement that Zelda Wii, if it would come out could be the most anticipated title.

Long story short, it is in no way worse then the general consensus of other sites.

I love how you've dumped all "Wii fans" into the same catagory. So... Wii fans don't have trouble accepting what exactly? That a Wii game was not the winner of the Game of the Year title? That other consoles had stronger software in 2009? I am a Wii fan, and i have no trouble at all accepting either of those. In fact i do not believe New Super Mario bros. Wii should have even been nominated because in my oppinion there were a lot more deserving games on the alternate home consoles. To be specific, i feel that Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2, Uncharted 2, Assassins Creed II and Demons Souls were the five most deserving games of the title. All are amazing games, none of them available on the Wii.

Please change your definition of "fan" because it is not accurate. Do not insult me, i will not tolerate being told what i can and cannot accept.

I've got to say I disagree with the OP. Fact is GameTrailers releases hundreds of Wii trailers, many games I bought I saw for the first time on GameTrailers. Why don't we see more trailers of Nintendo titles specifically. Your right Nintendo titles are lacking but that is due to Nintendo's own disclosure policies and their anti-media additude.

Fact is Nintendo only releases new trailers around GDC/E3 and rarely any other time, there for Nintendo titles don't show up as often as Microsoft or Sony titles. Take CES for example new interviews and trailers have come out of CES on Microsoft's behalf. However Nintendo wasn't present at CES. Does this mean that GameTrailers is being biased? No fact is Nintendo doesn't release trailers often. Also lets remember who broke the exclusive LOZ:SpiritTracks trailer that revealed Zelda in spirit form? It was on GameTrailers TV after an interview with Reggie. Fact is sure GameTrailers doesn't go out of its way to promote Nintendo's titles but they still give them the presence they deserve on the site.

As for G4Tech, a couple seasons ago on Attack Of the Show when PSP was first released. I can't remember her name (Blonde girl) stated Sony had sent all the G4 staff PSP's with all of the launch titles and some extra swag. It was then laughly stated that Sony was probubly bribing them to promote PSP. Now sure you could say that maybe Sony thought all the staff should get hands on time with the PSP. But I have no doubt that it was a bribe. You didn't hear Nintendo sending them swag free consoles and games to all the staff did you?

Fact is Sony bribes the media, Microsoft well is just really good with PR, but Nintendo ignores the media for the most part. Want evidence look no further then Nintendo Power. Under Nintendo's own control I don't think I ever saw an exclusive unvieling, never "Heard it first on Nintendo Power". If they didn't give their own magazine exclusives and up to date info why would they do so for G4 or GameTrailers or any other organisation.

I myself worked for a couple websites as a games reporter. I had contacts within Sony Canada's Ontario headquarters as well as Microsoft Canada's. Both sent me new press releases and even gave me E-Interviews. But Nintendo gave me the cold shoulder. I tried NOA and Nintendo Of Canada several times, but nobody would talk to me. Based on personal experiance Nintendo isn't really that friendly to the media.

I think their is alot of resentment towards Nintendo by the media and it is due to Nintendo's own lack of co-operation. Yet big sites like GameTrailers and television networks like G4 still give Nintendo news and trailers air time and coverage. Of course that being said their are anti-Nintendo media outlets like 1.Up for example, I actually got banned because I got in an argument with some mods that Nintendo GameCube wasn't a kiddy and crappy system. The mod's themselves started swearing at me and acting really unproffesional. In the end two mod's ended up backing me up while about a dozen attacked me mercilessly. Finally I recieved a notice that I had been permenently banned.

So yes their are biased outlets out their, but I don't think GameTrailers is one of them~!
