Forums - Gaming Discussion - Name at least one bad thing about the company you love (current-gen)

I'm sure we all have one company out of the big three that we prefer more than the others. It's fairly obvious that I love Nintendo, and let me stress, I really, really, love Nintendo. But that's not saying they haven't done some stupid stuff. I'd like to point out that you should only bring up current-gen stuff, because digging up all that old stuff isn't very ... Well, fun.

So, let me start off by saying that the controllers are way too expensive. I mean, first off, a Wiimote costs too much. And then you need a nunchuk. And now Wii Motion Plus. The peripherals are often bundled, so I don't really count them, but seriously, for a console which takes pride in local multiplayer it sure isn't giving it to you cheap. No wonder Wii Play sells so well - it feels like slightly less of a ripoff.

I also believe that Nintendo are mistreating WiiWare. Virtual Console is fantastic and is handled very well, but Nintendo have yet to release many worthwhile WiiWare-games which is pretty sad given how many great games they have and how many of them could benefit from a WiiWare-entry.

And lastly, I'm annoyed at constant new versions of the DS. What's the point of buying a machine if they just release a new upgrade a year later? And even moreso, what's the point of making an upgrade that removes features from the previous versions (GBA slot)? The whole new model thing sickens me, but apparently it's commercially viable since it boosts sales a lot.

So, now you guys go - pick your favorite of the big 3 and name at least one thing about them (this gen) that annoys you.

Around the Network

Sony - No cross game chat, long/slow updates, mandatory installs, no Gran Turismo 5

MS - RRoD, loud, needs more exclusives (I mean come up with them, not pay for them)

MS:
- not enough exclusive games
- not buying as much game developer studios like their fans would want them to.
- aren't dropping the console price as aggressively as they could.
- not all SKUs have a harddrive

As a big Nintendo fan...I hate the new targets Nintendo aimed this gen...I did not feel forgotten but a lot of gamers felt that way

MS

Pricing on US/EU marketplace. I really, really hate when americans get the stuff cheaper than we do.

this should also cover third-party....
anyway, Nintendo:
- They give us great games but they don't put as much efford and the game could be a lot better
- They overuse spin-offs
- They seem to ignore america...

Nintendo:
- online is weak and could be a lot better while keeping their "family friendly" stance. A unified FC (so no game specific FCs) would solve a lot of problems.
- released 1 concept art of Zelda. They really shouldn't have released anything, if they couldn't tell us something
- can't handle skirt physics
- sometimes they are too secretive. Right now we don't even know if they will have a big game to release next holiday season let alone 6 months from now.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

While I understand what you're saying, people would've lynched them if they'd gone by another E3 without showing us Zelda.

Sony:

- lost many great exclusives for PS3

- discontinued backwards compatibility for PS3

- EU gets Platinum Hits faster than NA gets the same game becoming Greatest Hits

- too many PSP revisions for small things

- no UMD program for the PSP Go
