Forums - Sony Discussion - Heavy Rain Critic Reception

coolbeans said:
Critics can go either way with it just like Indigo Prophecy did. There wasn't much to see in Indigo Prophecy that made it seem any less than AAA or high AA unless that reviewer found the general gameplay to be "tedious".

The majority of reviews I've read never bashed Indigo Prophecy for being a boring game only for having small control issues, average animation and major camera flaws. Gameplay mechanics were mostly praised.

I think the game will do well, maybe sales at first may not be great because of how many other great games comming out close to the same time. Being its a different experience and the game changes upon your decisions , a lot like real life, it will be pretty cool. You may feel like your the star in your own movie, being you can make your own decisions and it reflects. Play the game on way, then play it another. People are still unsure about this, but when it comes out. I think its such a different and new experience people will get drawn to it, even if you think you wont, you may !

@libellule : gamekult is a terrible website... They're talking a lot of nonsense.

Anybody can see in the numerous videos already released the game IS a graphical masterpiece.

I trust my eyes more than I trust gamekult...

lol, it is not about texture or character model

it is more about frame rate/bug/glitch

but dont worry, I m not the one that will bash the game for no reasons and I hope the best for it.

@papflesje,

possible, and very good then. But in their preview they mentionned my bug/glitch ...

are you working in the industry ? or even in gamekult ?

I'm an editor-in-chief for a gaming website, but not for gamekult :) Why? :)

just because I like gamekult and since they release video I begin to know their "crew" and it would have been if your account here was one of the gamekult guy.

but, what is the name of your website ? is it a french one ? or a belge one ?

Time to Work !

it will be difficult game to review.

i predict mixed reviews some will like it some not, people will buy it anyway as its a new type of game exp.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Why do people care about what critics reception will be to a game?

If you like it, buy it...simple as that.

This is why Taylor Swift sells millions of records and Transformers 2 makes billions at the box office. Most people don't have actual taste...

Wish people would just give this game a chance.

But she had the best video of the year, even if Beyonce had the best video of ALL TIME.

Tease.

We have heavy rain here already. Its nothing special, just another excuse not to go outside for a while.

Oh and oragami = ewww, anyone who likes this game therefore likes oragami and therefore is ewww because oragami is ewww, get it?

Best video of the year belongs to Steel panther - death to all but metal. If Kanye came out and said that, he wouldn't have been boo-ed off the stage.

well as much as we want to think that reviewers and other people won't influence what we buy, you'd be surprised at how easily we get caught up with hype from other people (good/bad).

i want to believe that i am not influenced by reviews and word-of-mouth, but at the end of the day, i know sometimes i still do get influenced, and i know some of you guys are too. some people are just more aware of these things than others (and most gamers aren't aware of these things, meaning little unknown but great games that aren't hyped.)

you can't underestimate the power of the media.

this is why i think, since heavy rain is different, in order for it succeed the way we want it to succeed, it needs good reviews and good word of mouth, not necessarily the best but it needs positive ones at least. and i guess that's why i'm really concerned about it cuz i really want it to succeed, not just for my taste, but for everyone too! lol.
