"As sacrilegious as it is to say, I would be more excited to see Nintendo make a new Sonic game than SEGA."

Honestly, I'd love to see a Sonic game that Miyamoto has a hand in.

But, SEGA seems to have this fantasy of HD SONIC OMG, so they make stupid decisions like this instead. >_>

i remeber playing as Sonic in Brawl, it felt SO good and Sonic looked fabulous in that game, better looking than I've seen him in YEARS (maybe best looking ever) he didn't have long dangly legs and hands or weird mouth placement or anything. his moving/running animations were executed nicely. Even that taunt with him running in place was just really cool to look at (legs blurring effect from speed)... "you're too slooow" :D

If Nintendo made a Sonic game with similar quality to NSMBWii, it'd be a dream come true for me (I love Sonic). I remeber when NSMBWii was announced, I was so happy when i heard, It was like Nintendo READ MY MIND and granted me a wish... Now i wish they'd read this thread and see what sonic fans want... Nintendo know how to take care of our beloved old and classic franchises, maybe someday Sega will sell Sonic to Nintendo and Nintendo will nurse him back to health :)

Sonic should have story as minimal as possible, something like NSMBW.

Yeah, I'd love it so much if they gave sonic the NSMBWii treatment... wouldn't every sonic fan? just focus on gameplay!

(what's with Wii owners and their constant need to "focus on gameplay"?)  >_>

The third parties just don't get it.

Sega right now seems to be in anti-Wii attack mode -- even though 7 of its 8 million selling console titles this generation have been on the Wii (the eighth was bundled with Xbox 360s last Xmas -- Sega Superstar Tennis).

Not bringing a retro game to the Wii would be a mistake -- another one by the company.

Sega hadn't found any real success on HD consoles tbh

Valkyria Chronicles 780k they're best selling game on PS3

Sonic Unleashed 510k they're 6th best selling game on PS3

Beijing 2008 600k they're best (non bundled w/360) selling game on 360

Sonic Unleashed 520k they 5th selling game on 360

The House of the Dead: Overkill  520k (flop) they're ((13th)) lol best selling game on Wii.....

Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity 760K 8th best selling game on Wii

Sonic Unleashed 1.4M they're 4th best selling game on Wii

Sonic and the Secret Rings 2.1M they're 3rd best selling game on Wii

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games 2.5M they're 2rd best selling game on Wii

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games 7.4M they're best selling game OF ALL TIME!!!!

Gaming make me feel GOOD!

I think everyone is discounting the potential sales of a downloadable release. It'd certainly be in their best interest to launch it on WiiWare, too.

However, a 2D-HD game (ala Braid or Shadow Complex) could do gangbusters for the digital platofmrs. Factor in much higher profit margins, and it could do great for Sega over a longer period of time.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I'm with you. I don't want to spend $50-$60 for a disc based Sonic game. Though I would love to get one for XBL. :)

^^ I actually believed what was said about The House of the Dead: Overkill (that it was a flop) i didn't know it sold that much.

it makes Wii gamers' complaints about media bias all the more legit, i mean lots of people and gaming site were claiming Wii couldn't sell M games/Non Nintendo games, and i was starting to believe it, I should've just looked it up >_>

That is the way I look at it as well. Sonic hasn't been worth $50 for a long time. If Sega plays their cards right, they could sell a new Sonic for $15 via XBL/PSN/WW and sell a million copies in a relatively short span of time, and continue to sell copies for a very long time. Sonic 1/2/3/Knuckles on XBL has sold pretty well (about 700,000 copies between all 4) so there is a good userbase to purchase a new Sonic game. Not to mention the HD enthusiats that'd buy it just for the fact it may be a platform-defining title.

I don't know about that. I got a good 10 hours out of sonic Unleashed. thats about 4-5 more than wolverine or Tomb raider Underwolrd.  I paid the same for all 3...and have enjoyed them all.

You can't really say a game isn't worth 50 bucks because its short as we all know that 5 hours of fun is worth more than 15 hours of grinding...

Another beautiful HD 2D platformer. Braid and Shadow Complex looked amazing, can't wait to see this. When is it out I wonder ..?

The main problem I had with the 2D Sonic games is that the screen was too small/the camera was too close.

I could imagine that will change when they do a 720p widescreen version.

Lets go one further and say that it should be in full stereoscopic 3D!!!!!!!

3D ready TV + glasses + Sonic doing loops in your face = WIN!
