Again calm down, I don't mean to give PS3 users a bad name I just think Halo is extremely overrated and Gears of War deserves more credit, I lost interest in Halo after 2 and Gears still has me hooked. BTW I do own both systems, and I'll change that comment. I hate how much of a Hyped up Franchise Halo is. People buy Halo games for the simple reason that it says Halo!

It couldn't have been that way without it being an entertaining, quality franchise at some point. If anything, this is more of a good thing than a bad, as this implies that Halo is one of the key franchises that pushes the envelope, and industry, forward. Even I don't praise it, though ODST made me keep watch, but know of it's importance and relevance to the industry.

If HUGE franchises like this start to die off, the industry is in trouble, IMO.

Never said it wasn't a good franchise at some point. Franchises die and new ones are born, Developers move on and Bungie is moving on after Reach, 343 Industries is taking its place and who knows it could change the Halo Franchise for the better or the worst. I don't know any HUGE franchises that have died off, I will give you that but the end of a franchse isn't the end of the world and a new king will be crowned. Trust me If Halo goes True Gamers will just move on, I'm not saying I want Halo gone I just want something new.

I'd agree with you if Halo was a declining franchise. Since it isn't, this is a little premature. Just because new franchises are born: Gears of War/Left 4 Dead, doesn't mean old ones will/should die off: Halo/Fable.

Maybe 343 Industries can refresh the Franchise or who knows maybe Halo Reach will. But as of right now Halo is getting Old, yet Bungie doesn't realise we(me and the bulk of the ex Halo fanbase) that we want something new. Bungie could do so much with the series if every game wasn't the same thing as the previous one.

Halo is not declining, you are right, I simply made a prediction that it will decline because the main series is seemingly temporarily over(eagerly awaiting Halo 4).



2010 Hardware Sales Predictions

Wii: 20m- Sales will drop, but not by much.

PS3: 13.5m- It sold 12m in 2009, its only common sense it will sell more this year.

Xbox 360: 11m- It sold 11m in 2008 and 2009, I think it will sell the same.

Why do you have to make excuses to defend a product that you purchased, but that's the only connection you have to it, you don't make it, you don't lose or gain money on it. I don't see where all of the defensiveness comes in, there is no reason for you or anybody else to feel obligated to defend it. Now I would understand if one of you were a developer for the product and you slaved over said product only to hear somebody call it stupid or a piece of junk. But none of you developed it, none of you are mature enough to realize that. Choosing a product all comes down to preference, you chose said product because it is best for you. Simple as that!

I understand that you try to take kind of a neutral stance on things and argue both sides of the fence, but do not take a stand for this:

Well, I won't argue with you there. I'm just saying, as irrational as some of the comments can be on these forums, and his was quite irrational, spewing borderline insults usually doesn't solve the issue.

Doesn't mean I don't get your frustration though.

Fable 3 probably wont come and ME2 will sell more like 3.5-4 million, other games im not sure, except for halo which will sell much more than 12 million life time sales.

Those are some pretty good estimates for the PS3, I think.

Your 360 estimates are a little out of control though. Seriously... Alan Wake 2m?  ME2 3m?  APB 5m?  I think Halo: Reach is a stretch at 12m, too -- Halo is an aging franchise, and Halo 3 was most definately the peak.  I think your glasses are tinted a bit too much X360 green to look squarely at these titles and their audience.

No, not really. The only one that I really disagree with is APB. It isn't going to sell anywhere near 5 million. It is more then possible for Alan Wake to get 1.5-2 million copies. Mass Effect 2 definitely has 3 million in it. And how is Halo 3 the peak of the series? I

Oh, don't get me wrong, I think all those numbers are possible.  I think hudson is very good with the relative proportions, too.  Yet.. the X360 numbers are all a bit too... I dunno... rosy, while the PS3 numbers all seem very... realistic.  

I just noted all the very optimistic X360 numbers, compared to the, quite fair IMO, PS3 numbers, and thought it... odd.
