Next year is looking to be the biggest of the generation and probably the last before we really start hearing about the next generation, or is it?
I'll start with a few prediction for each of the big three (alphabetical order), feel free to make your prediction in any format you like and bets with others are welcome ;)
Microsoft
- The XBOX 360 will be down YoY
- Natal will be priced at $49.95
- All XBOX 360 consoles will be bundled with Natal with no price increase
- Natal will boost 360 sales through the holidays
- Halo Reach will sell at Halo 3 levels but will not move much hardware
- Gears of War 3 will not be seen
- 360 will be revised (smaller, lighter, etc) to coincide with Natal launch
- Mass Effect 2 will be GOTY contender
- Alan Wake will be solid but won't bring much new stuff to the table
Nintendo
- The Wii will be down YoY
- There will be no mention of a Wii redesign/WiiHD
- WiiRelax with Vitality Sensor will be a big hit worldwide with advertising focused on the stresses of day to day life
- Wii GOTY will be either Super Mario Galaxy 2 or Retro Studios new title
- The DS will be down YoY
- All DS models will receive a price drop
- Nintendo will mention that the next DS is in development
- Nintendo's E3 will be the best since E3 2006 with the unveiling of Retro's new title and Zelda Wii for release in 'Spring 2011'
- Red Steel 2 will turn out to be what everybody wanted the original to be
Sony
- The PS3 will be level or up slightly YoY
- PS3 will have the best year in terms of Metacritic scores
- Resistance 3 will be much better than R2 but will sell a similar amount and be the final Resistance title
- Killzone 3 will be revealed with a vague 2011 release date
- GT5 will launch in May in the west and become the highest selling PS3 title
- GT5 will boost hardware significantly in Europe and Others
- PS3 will see another price drop before the holidays
- Gem will work exactly as Sony claims but a lack of support will cause it to have a slow launch, better sales in Others
- Sony announce Paid PSN service, multiplayer gaming still free for most games
- The PSP will be down significantly YoY
- Sony will announce that they are working on a PSP2 for release in 2011
- The PS2 will have its final viable year in 2010
