Forums - Sony Discussion - Whats the reason PS3 owners not buying Dragon Age?

PS3 = Gamers generally prefer JRPGs over WRPGs
XBox 360 and PC = Gamers generally prefer WRPGs over JRPGs

I think part of it was the fact that it had a delayed release... making the X360 and PC versions seem a lot better. I know they moved up the NA release, but it was slightly botched by some of the dealers in Canada. I.E. if you pre-ordered it you wouldn't get it until the original release date regardless.

The Mass Effect 2 pre-order may have also persuaded people to get either the X360 or PC versions instead of the PS3 version.

At the time PS3 also had a solid line-up with Uncharted 2 and Demon's Souls releasing a week apart in North America. The delay releases put it around the releases of Modern Warfare 2.

It should be selling bucket loads, every store in Canada has it for $39.99 (29.99 for the PC) for boxing week sales.

ps3 version was Delayed? i didn't know that

And the fact that the proper version is on PC. This is NOT a console game.

I prefer bioware's games on PC, PC-version of DA:O was the definitive version if I remember correctly, also there's the game modability.

I bought it again for PC... and the PC version does seem a LOT better...

Actually it's worth it for the level editor alone.

it should sell buttloads compare to the price of Demon Souls which is still standing at $69.99 (canadian) sigh

im not a big fan of dragon age i played it for a few hours but sometimes it doesn't tell me where to go and i hate!! that it tells me to go to a place in this forest as if the game thinks i know where im going! which i dont, i need a waypoint other wise i get lost and bored then turn it off

SOunds like a positive to me.  RPGs that hold your hand usually have less content and end up ending too fast.  The better RPGs usually allow you to go off the beaten path and simply tell you where you need to go, allowing you to do so at your own pace.

That aside however, I've actually heard the opposite from some people, saying the game is too linear.  Guess its all in the perception.

Six upcoming games you should look into:

It is a linear game, which I personally like. And I would think the people that are gobbling up Demon's Souls right now would really like this game. You may see a spike in sales sometime in the future.

I haven't heard a single convincing theory so far.

So I'll add in my own unsupported drivel! *Ahem*

It's because PS3 owners are smart enough to not buy a game where basic features require the purchase of pricey DLC.

!@#)$-ing EA can stuff their Warden's Keep DLC...*grumble grumble*
