It certainly seems like something Russia would be up to. They always tend to come up with these schemes with little real significance, but a lot of flash and excitement.

That's still only a .000004% chance of hitting us.... You have a better chance to die from cancer or heart disease or maybe even swine flu than the earth has of getting hit by that there rock

And they make a mistake and the chances will be 1 to 2.

I really support this, not because they safe the earth but because they learn how they can push the asteroid out of his orbit. But even a chance of 1:250000 is 50 times higher then win in the lottery 1: 14 Million (for the Jackpot).

But I wonder how they are going to do this. Such a thing would be sensational.I havent even known that such a technology exists. Because a normal explosive is way to weak
to push it out of the orbit. And a H2-Bomb transported with a rocket would be extremly dangerous and this could make the situation really dangerous depending what material Aphophis is it could have a minor effect if its an iron asteroid. If its a silicat/H20 asteroid or whatever it could burst and hundreds of fragments could destroy way more then such an asteroid. Its a dangerous thing they should make it with some asteroid which is further away.

And how they are going to do this ? NASA said we dont have the technology to make this.
Except nuclear explosives but those are inefective and dangerous other solutions take a long time like solar sails attached on the asteroid and are extremly expensive and extremly difficult.

Obviously Russia has giant robots.

I can imagine, Russia retreats of going because of the mean comments, and them that asteroid hits the earth
