In a peculiar, grandiose, and most likely unnecessary gesture, the head of Russia's space administration, Anatoly Perminov, says that their agency is taking a mission to send a craft to knock an Asteroid off its path under serious consideration, though NASA has said that possibilities of collision are as low as 1 in 250,000
It certainly seems like something Russia would be up to. They always tend to come up with these schemes with little real significance, but a lot of flash and excitement.
