Right... hey, i'm not really taking it seriously so much as stating a fairly obvious point... that people have agreed with me on.  If you weren't taking it so seriously, i'm sure you'd agree.  It's really an uncontroversial and easy concept.

Hey, haven't I made it clear that I'm not going to argue with you any more?

It's obvious that no-one can have a real argument with you. You have a great deal of trouble communicating at an adult level, and you accept or reject statements according to whether you agree with the things that can be inferred from them (something that shows that your fanboyism is like a religion).

If you really want to, then I'll let you believe that you are objective. I'll let you believe that your opinion is an expert one as well (despite all evidence to the contrary). I'll also let you believe that the Earth is flat (if you can believe the first two things, then believing the third should be easy ).

I won't come back to this thread, so feel free to bitch about me to your heart's content. I know you will, since you can't help but respond to anyone who disagrees with you.

I'm not the one having trouble communicating on an adult level in this thread.

I've made a solid point you've never even attempted to argue except saying you don't think it's important to play the games in order... with no explination on why.

Nor have you argued the fact that it wouldn't be so important in any other venue.

One person does look childish in this thread, however it isn't me.  Once again, the posters in this thread have been pretty clear on that.

o come on ,everyone knows ffvii is the "it" game to hate on due to its popularity these days. and vii isnt better just cuz of its huge fanbase. its mathmatically superior in virtually every way.
better combat(limit break bars were the type of RPG specials, they actually felt special. MATERIA, enuf said)

best and most memorable hero-Cloud
best Villain(Kefka has NO depth to his villainy
best world(it felt alive eith midgar,gold saucer,junon, Aeris's church
best video game moments ever.

i like VI, but it belongs behind VII and X.

@Freetalk
so do i.they r everywhere these days. they r the ones who seemed compelled to bring up FFVI everytime FFVII is n a headline or getting another entry in the compilation.

That's all your opinion but wow.  I wouldn't agree with a single one of those statements.

If you think Kefka had no depth to his villiany... you weren't paying attention.

dont take him seriously dude. He’s got "fanboy" written all over him. he might as well have a buster sword tattooed on his forehead and a full body portrait of zack fair inscribed on his butt-cheeks. first of all he is whining about some organized populous trying to bring down FFVII when it continues to have not only one of the most rabid and widespread fanbase in video game or media history, but some of the most recognition of any game ever. To assert the notion that it is being “held down” is absurd. the fact that he thinks it is a travesty that FFVII is in second fucking place on the list reveals his fanboyism. the fact that he thinks this game is being treated unfairly when it is on nearly every top ten list of best games and best RPG lists, shows that he is an insatiable fanboy that will not be satisfied until FFVII is considered the best game ever made by every site and every human being. Anyway, aside from his obvious fanboy bias its nice that he attempts to give reasons, but this shows why FFVII fanboys don’t typically try to argue with facts and why they really shouldnt. While its good of him to present some “evidence” there is one problem………… none of it is valid!

1) better combat? The combat in FFVII was 3D and that really was the only good thing about it. It was more chaotic, and choppy than its predecessors but it didn’t make any great strides in gameplay. Im not sure if I am understanding his point, but is he saying that FFVII was the first RPG to have special moves? There has always been special moves in RPGs (and more interesting ones I might add). I don’t even know what he is talking about here.

2) that is a laugh. Cloud is not the best hero ever. For crying out loud, his personality was shallow and boring and there was almost no character development. He basically goes from “hey, im gong to sit here and whine about nothing” to “oh, Im whining about nothing maybe I should stop.” You call that dynamic character development?! That makes him the ultimate hero? Of course, anime fanboys like this guy will eat up anything that has spiky hair and big swords. Who cares about character depth??

3) best villain. Once again, another laugh. Sephiroth’s motives are idiotic, poorly written and unintuitive. Kefka was power-hungry and sadistic and that’s all there is to it. His motives were more subtle and he was just an evil person. I would rather have that, than some mama’s boy who drove himself crazy over nothing. But of course, sephiroth has a kickass giant katana and an epic theme song, so he must be an awesome character, right?

4) best world and best locations? This is just a lie. Migar was stale, repetitive and only cool for about 30 minutes. Its not that amazing. The gold fucking saucer? Is this guy for real? He is saying that it is one of the best locales in video game history??? That’s asinine. Junon? It’s a fucking cliff, with a fucking base, some fucking guns and a fucking ocean. I fail to see what is so amazing about it. Its not even that big or detailed. How pretentious can someone be to call that one of the best locations in RPG history? And finally Arieth’s church. Another very underwhelming location. It’s a church with a hole in the ceiling and some flowers. There’s nothing impressive about it. None of these locations are anything special. another failed point

5) best video game moments ever? I pity this guy. You have not experienced quality RPGs or quality gaming if you think that FFVII offers the most satisfying experiences of any video game. This guy seriously needs to broaden his horizons.

"Enough expository banter! Now we fight like men! And ladies! And ladies who dress like men! For I am Gilgamesh...it is morphing time!"

@arbitor

Wow you take this way too seriously to write such a large statement. Im a big FFVII fan, very much obvious by my name for crying out loud. YES, I DO think its the GREATEST GAME OF ALL TIME!

And that doesnt make me wrong that FFVII should be at the top of the list, nor does it make me right. Thats because it is all just OPINION. I know this, im just saying I disagree. We can argue about it all day but in the end its still all opinion.

and what I meant by special moves: Limit Breaks in FFVII were used like finishers, one of the early games to have these. FFVI usage of what were LB in FFVII always felt cheap to me because you could just do them whenever you liked. They never felt special(again, opinion).

And I think my catalogue of JRPGs I have played is rather large and diverse enough to not be ignorant on the subject...
-FF1,FF2,FFIV,FFVI,FFVII,FFVIII,FFIX,FFX,FFXI,XII
-Chrono Trigger,Chrono Cross
-Legend of Legaea 1 and 2
-Legend of Dragoon
-Star Ocean 1-3
-Pokemon(numerous)
-Disgaea(1 and 3)
-Jeanne D'arc
-Valkyria Chronicles
-ect

And my first RPG was actually FF2, despised every minute of it. The serious never resonated with me again till FFIV, then FFVII, hence my attachement to that one. So the whole idea that "FFVII fans just think it is the best because it was their first RPG" doesnt apply to me(not saying you said that but thats usually the first thing to come up).
