Forums - General Discussion - Why do cartoons and other American shows never change openings?

The opening of Jonny Bravo changed too

Why don't you make like a tree and get out of here?

It always disappoints me that most shows don't change openings. I love Avatar: The Last Airbender a lot, it feels a lot like I'm watching an anime, but the opening never changed with each season, even though I felt like it should have.

Currently playing: Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, NBA2k11, Metal Gear Solid, Picross 3d

I remember Rugrats had different openings, once they started adding the new characters.

Garfield & Friends and Sabrina the Teenage Witch had three different openings

Hey I like casual shows too. But they aren't the best. Shows like that don't need openings (many don't even have them).

Also whenever I see stuff like cartoons and kids shows and such around I never see an opening change. Of course some of you guys haven't seen what I'm talking about and seen other shows that I haven't...but I find that Japanese shows change their openings way more often. I think zexen makes a good point though about the singles thing.

That's totally the problem WITH Japanese shows though Soriku.

9 times out of 10, the original theme kicks ass... then the theme they replace it with is just ok.

I felt this way about Godannar.

Shinkon Gattai Godannar S1 Theme:  "Shinkon Gattai Godannar!"

Shinkon Gattai Godannar Season 2 Theme:  "Engage! Godannar"

The second theme isn't bad but it's lacks the same hot-blooded feeling the first one has which is far more appropriate to the series.

Because, a lot of time the intros to shows become memorable and become part of the show. In anime, not so much.

If not then no one would be posting links to old shows right now.

As they are mostly episodic with no running plotline that could drastically change the atmosphere of the show. In anime as the plot progresses the opening will change to suit the mood of the current chapter of the story.

That's my guess anyway.

They do - American Dad for example.

Simpsons? Family Guy?

All the same! Glad for it too!

South Park had many different openings..
