Just tried to watch garth merenghis dark place on my ps3 and it wouldn't work...anyone have solutions?
use a DVD player that is region 2
EDIT: PC's tend to work best, as you can change the region.
do you think I can rip the dvd to my computer and then watch it on the ps3 via the media network?
yes, if you have the right tools. The region code would be lost during the rip/re-encoding.

Can't argue with that !
AFAIK you can only change the regions a few times until it's locked on the PC drive. I tried that 5 years ago and I can remember a certain warning when I tried to change it.

yea, it is a 5 time limit. However, if you have the right drive, and some skills you can bypass the limit of 5. Also, if you really watch a lot of foreign films, just buy a second drive for $20 (or even get one free from an old junk computer) and set it to the other region.
