Forums - Sony Discussion - The Inevitable Final Fantasy VII Remake Will Be Terrible

i have to disagree. i think that if they simply gave the game a makeover and (it is very questionable) maybe put some voice acting in there. It might be pretty good... and a game as good as ffvii i think there is more then nostalgia there.

IDK, J-E-N-O-V-A can't be messed with:

That's ridiculuous, I was going to cite J-E-N-O-V-A as my example. Point being I have nothing against crunchy remixes, the problem is that it kills the precise atmosphere that the original created. Musically it's fine; serving the same role in the game it would fail.

Man, the second one has a much better quality than the first and you have to remember that song was used in a fight scene in an action movie, not in a game and in a normal scene that is used to create atmosphere, the melody can be reused and arranged for other cases too.

Now, there you go, the first one, the one from the game is awesome in composition, not so much in execution, the synths make the quality lower, the second, from reunion tracks is almost the same in composition but perfected.

Personally I think the Synth/OST version of the FF VII soundtrack is the best of all them.

Ok, but most people that know about the thing would tell you the synth versions are incomplete forms of the vision Uematsu had when he made the game because he had limitations, now, the recent adaptations of some songs in the reunion tracks, like the main theme, aerith theme and sephiroth theme(not the metal version in AC) are what Uematsu wished for the game.

The new versions have a lot more sound quality and the many instruments you can use give a wider experience than the simple synth harmonies in the game.

Too laxy to reply/argue with what everyone's said right now, but:
Stop misquoting me. I didn't say the music shouldn't be redone. I said that we would get poorly done, too-metal remixes.

If you're going to argue points, at least know what you're arguing against.

That's some imagination you'e got there, but I think I'll reserve judgement for when the game actually exists.

That one is much better.

Yeah, thats why I said it was the perfected one, the way Uematsu wanted it to be in the first place.

And whats exactly wrong with metal? I mean, if you listen to the original fighting theme, you can listen it was clearly intended to be a mix of orchesta and metal or fast paced music. Also, there is nothing that can tell you the music would be poorly done, and I could say the AC arrangements were done thinking in action scenes in the movie and this doesnt guarantee the remake would have the same type of arrangements.

I you ask me, I would guess they would redo the music with more production taking the same songs from the original and maybe add some other peices, in a style in which SE makes music nowadays for the lastest FF.

Not all remakes end up tranishing the original experience, I mean sometimes it ends up better:

(first one is original)

I mean seriously..
