I picked the Genesis.

Although the SNES had more, better games, the Genny had a knack to it that made me choose it. It also well outlived the SNES, as games are still being made for it. I want to get a copy of Pier Solar for my Genny

I'm torn

I had a Megadrive when I was younger and I feel much more nostalgia and loyalty towards it, however...

Since then I've discovered some great SNES games that I couldn't play back then bacause they weren't realsed where I live (of which my favourite is Chrono Trigger), so I'm now inclined to say that the SNES was the better console.

I have Pier Solar pre-ordered. Oh man I can't wait to get my hands on that game and dust off the old Genesis to play it. But seeing as how the team wants to ensure that the game is shipped out as bug-free as possible I'm willing to wait.

I also recently got Sonic's Ultimate Genesis collection on my 360. It's awesome.

For SNES gamers that enjoyed the SNES jrpgs and have a PS3 or 360, they should definitely check out that collection to see what Sega has to offer jrpg wise. That collection has 9 first-party jrpgs: Phantasy Star I-IV, Shining Force I + II, Shining in the Darkness (turn-based rpg version of Shining Force), Fatal Labyrinth (roguelike) and Beyond Oasis (action rpg). You have to unlock Phantasy Star I though.

40 Sega games in total in that collection and you can unlock 7 arcade ports and 2 Sega Master System (Sega's 8-bit system) games (one of which is Phantasy Star).

I wish Sega would offer the re-vamped Phantasy Star 2 in the west. Or better yet, offer the RPGs as downloads on XBLA. Phantasy Star 2 is the only one available right now. Very good game, but could definately use the help of PS4, and some of the other Genny greats.

SNES surely.

I don't think there is a need for putting the Genesis rpgs on XBLA when the Ultimate Genesis Collection on 360/PS3 offers a lot more value for money (and it includes PS I-IV). I prefer having the 8 Genesis RPGs (and 1 unlockable SMS rpg, Phantasy Star. Bringing the total to 9) + 32 other Genesis games + 7 arcade ports + Golden Axe Warrior (SMS) all for $20-25 rather than paying 400 MS pts ($5) each per RPG (which is what Phantasy Star II costs on XBLA).

If they want to add other Sega rpgs (outside of that 9) to XBLA though, I'd be all for it. Panzer Dragoon Saga on Saturn costs a fortune and afaik there is no way to get that game to properly work on a Sega Saturn emulator yet (like you can with say Snatcher or Lunar on a Genesis emulator with Sega CD support) nor is there a way to mod a Sega Saturn to play burnt copies.

The only drawbacks to the Genesis Collection are that 1) you only get a maximum of 1000 achievement points for a 49 game collection (and not all games in that collection have achievements. I think only like 30 do and it's only 1 achievement each) whereas if you buy the games individually you can get up to 200 achievement points each game and 2) multiplayer games like Golden Axe and Streets of Rage have local multiplayer only whereas the XBLA versions have xbl multiplayer too.
