Yeah... too bad that the US is not trhe entire world, and people are forgetting this every time. Dont get me wrong I congratulate them for managing to reach to this %, but lets be honest the year headstart helped them a lot, by being able to reduce the price much faster then their competitors.

The 360 is a huge success from MS's perspective and should be for us on this board if we are honest about it. It may not be #1 and may not be #2 but at the start of this gen, MS did not expect it to be anywhere near the success it has now. Did any of you at the start of this gen expect the numbers to be the way it is now? Look at Windows and all the other products MS makes. Usually it isn't until version 3.0 that it is truly successful. The fact that it knocked Sony down to 3rd in over all sales is a huge achievement. If you want to argue about net profit for a specific product then you cannot add up the original xbox nor the old PS2 to compare the 360 and PS3. Each product should stand on it's own. With the 360 on it's own, it is actually making money whereas the PS3 has been bleeding and still bleeding. As for MS only looking at net profit, that is simply not true. If that was the case then they would never have made IE free nor a whole slew of other software such as the browser toolbar, Security essentials. They sometimes do this in order to get market share.

the expectations is the real measure of success
so XBOX 360 is a success from MS 's view thy didn 't thought that xbox 360 will sel pretty well because of the first xbox sales
if expectations is the real measure all nintendo consoles from NES to GC are failure since the one sells less than the previous one until the Wii

Very well spun by Bruce. But the fact remains that the Wii is still trampling the HD consoles with software and hardware sales, and that the 360 is performing badly in WW sales compared to the other home consoles.
