Wii : 250k
PS3 : 220k
xbox360 : 190k

Around the Network

Let's get some stats in here.

Last year (2009), the sales were as following:

Wii: 344K

Ps3: 161K

X360: 178K

If we now look at start of Nov-19Dec in both 2008 and 2009, the difference is

2008:

Wii - 7.3 million
Ps3 - 2.4 million
X360 - 3.85 million

2009:

Wii - 7 million
Ps3 - 4 million
X360 - 3 million

Going by that, we would be looking at 300-350K/week for Wii, 250-275K for Ps3 and 140-165K/week for the X360.

However, I think the differences will be somewhat lower than that. The Wii and Ps3 should be a bit lower, as the price cut effect wears off a bit, at least.

All in all, I wouldn't say that the OP's predictions are too unlikely.

Gilgamesh - that would be the worst the Wii has ever done (in terms of market share) on a consistent basis, ignoring times when it was supply constrained. You can't make that prediction without some pretty good justification

The Wii is down almost 20% from 2008, and there really isn't anything big coming to Wii in 2010. It could drop the price but it IS already $200 so dropping the price another $50 probably wouldn't be that big

Seems as though the Wii peaked in 2008, I see 2010 being worst then 2009 for the Wii.

The PS3 has a lot going for it now, selling for $299, having some of the best exclusives, the slim. Also there biggest games are coming out in 2010 and there getting 3D, the rise of Blu-ray, Gem. 2010 is going to be one of the best years for the PS3.

Sorry, my sarcasm meter doesnt work at the moment, so you'll have to help me out. Are you being serious here? 2010 for the Wii could end up being one of the best years any console has ever seen. I'm not going to list wars you to death, do your own research

Wii - 280k
PS3 - 190k
X360 - 110k

Just random guesses.

No I'm not being sarcastic.

I'm not really sure why you think 2010 could be the Wii's best year, I would like to know why you think this though, maybe I got my information all wrong about the Wii for 2010.

contrary to others, i think starting from Feb, actually xbox 360 will be gaining more unit
with lower cost to manufacture than ps3, also from xbox live profit, and other revenue stream, MS will do the price cut, and with great lineup for 2010, it will have better sales than ps3 starting from feb 2010

@ dejelek: when do you think the price cut is coming (and I think that might be dangerous as they don't want to have the public perceive Q3 Q4 as price hikes when natal comes along.)?

And I think the 360 has a great line-up early on, but it's not like the PS3 is staying dormant in Q1 and Q2 with their own releases...

Wii- 250k

PS3- 200k

360- 140k

Agree. And in the case they can afford it, i don't see MS wasting it in a low sales period
