Reading different forums what has become clear is xbox fans/viral marketeers hate every ps3 exclusive equally.

I 100% love my Xbox 360 and spend a lot of hours on it, but my second favorite game of all time (only second to Half Life 2) is a PS3 exclusive.  And that game is Uncharted 2.  I also consider Killzone 2 to be the best console shooter I have ever played (it may now be second to MW2, but it would be a close second).  I also love LBP.  I am really rooting for the PS3 this gen, and I think it's only going to continue to close the sales gap.

So......I think I'm still aloud to hate GT5 if I want to.  Is that ok with the PS3 club?

The time trial is aimed at racing enthusiasts (proffesional physics) which is the backbone of GT's fanbase. The arcade/casual physics will get a demo closer to release so dont worry. But you give yourself away by your choice of words.

I'm not worried.  Games don't worry me.  But I'm assuming they want GT5 to sell to more than just their core audience.  If it doesn't, it's not going to be a very successful game.  And if I were just a guy interested in racing games, I would not buy GT5 based on this demo.

As i've said there core fanbase is the enthusiast(very big). Thats where this is aimed at. The arcade casual stuff for the mainstream hardcore gamer will come aproaching GT'5's release. Ignore it as a GT5 demo it's aimed at a particular audience.

While I agree most Xbox fans loves to bash PS3 and sony anytime they can, its really not the case for dominicator.

So much ignorance in one thread.

The people saying its not very realistic have obviously never been racing.

Don't worry, when the full game comes out, you can turn the professional physics off.

B) Whoever said it was "ignorant" to think that the final release will not look better than the demo----It's ignorant, at least in marketing circles, to expect your core audience to just magically know that.  I would venture to say a vast majority of gamers out there are not details kind of people.  When you say something is a demo of a game on Playstation Network or Xbox Live, then users expect a demo.  It doesn't say "GT5 Demo that is only focusing on the physics, not the graphics or the rest of the game".  It just says "Gran Turismo 5 Demo".

Like I said, I didn't mean to offend you when saying that, but you can't expect much from a 200 MB demo in the way of graphics if you've seen gameplay videos of more advanced builds, let alone some screenshots.

And for your information, I'm not a fanboy (I own a 360 and Wii, and they get a lot of my play time), and I don't have a problem if you don't like the physics of the game, to each his own. But I'm just saying, if you were expecting more than this, then you're going to have to wait till a future demo. This was specifically aimed at hardcore racing fans.

And just to clarify once more--I have no problem with this being a demo targeted at a certain demographic and only focusing on physics, but if that's going to be the case, they need to SAY SO.  If they don't, they're not even going to have peoples' interest enough when the REAL demo comes out later.  I'm a hardcore gamer, but a casual racing sim gamer.  Based on this demo, I wouldn't even be interested enough anymore to download another demo before release.

That's just the thing, they did say so. I'm not trying to hurt your right to an opinion, but you need to understand certain key factors, one of them being that this isn't a good representation of the game. Look at Gamescom and TGS footage and you will have a better understanding of today's defense.

Where did they say this on PSN where everyone is going to go get the demo?  As far as I could see (and I'll admit, I didn't look too closely, so correct me if I'm wrong) it just said GT5 demo, not GT5 demo for the hard core enthusiasts.  They're presenting this like it's the demo for the final release.  If I were the developer, I would have never released this under that pretense.

Yes, to whoever said not to buy the game, that is always my option to not buy the game.  And I'm not really trying to "bash" the game either.  I actually penciled this game in on my "to buy" list for 2010 as I don't actually own any console exclusive racers.  The Forza 3 that I played was someone else's copy, so I didn't get to try it for very long.

My point here was just to get some opinions and see if anyone disagrees.  Apparently almost everyone disagrees, and that's cool.  I would love if someone would give me a link to a good HD video of the "real" GT5 in action.

You dont think a packed blu-ray version of the game will look better than a 200MB download intended to show off the physics?

I really have doubts that the final release will look any better than the demo.  After all, they do want people to BUY this game, not just marvel at the physics.  Average Joe Gamer doesn't play a demo for the physics comparisons.

Don't, I have Granturismo 5 prologue, and the graphics are much better than the time trial.  I didn't bother finishing it either .

I really think the GT5 academy is a bad idea, now most ppl think this is really a demo to represent the full GT5.

its a 300mb demo, i didn't expect much from it

Agreed with OP

Well, this has been a good discussion. I think we're all disagreeing on some key things:

a) How big is the "hardcore enthusiast" fanbase?
b) Does Prologue look better than this demo? (So far nobody has given me a link to prove otherwise)
c) Is the demo description misleading? How will casual racing gamers even know this current demo is, for some strange reason, merely a physics demo?

I probably won't be back here tonight, but I'll check my thread tomorrow. I'd love for someone to convince me I should actually care about this game based on my comparison to the other two games. I was getting somewhat pumped up to buy it until I played that time trial. Now I'm definitely not.
